I worked at Coastal Sunbelt Produce (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The managers gave me a lot of responsibility and opportunity to grow, a lot of camaraderie in the buyers office.

    Cons

Could be extremely stressful, management was scattered and would often have conflicting goals which would lead to a tense environment. Also not the most professional environment, but it could be fun if you didn't get offended.

    Advice to Management

Don't have someone you are firing (and they know it) train their own replacement. Leads to a lot of awkwardness.

I worked at Coastal Sunbelt Produce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No one stands over your shoulder while you work.

    Cons

This place has the worst batch of individuals in management and office staff. The workers kept this place alive. Administrative individuals were incompetent and unprofessional. The management was always under the influence and seemed to always make bad decisions. The team as a whole was unorganized and the little things it would need to make the operation run smoother was neglected. My paycheck was incorrect numerous time by more than $200 on quite a few occasions.

    Advice to Management

Give people who are qualified the opportunity to move up. Get those who already there trained for their position. If the can not accommodate this then should be asked to step down. Attack areas that need work. Better unity amongst peers. Keep the guys who are trying to work. The forklift guys need to be better trained. In my opinion, training would help the business have a more efficient environment. Lastly, there needs to be a way to track the incentive program. That guarantees the employees pay. This way when pay day arrives there is no argument or a short in pay.
There are miniscule opportunity to be promoted it seems as though they have set people that they favor. The benefits are mediocre. Nothing to brag about. The hours were terrible especially around holiday time. Where some of us worked as early as 630 PM- 630 AM. Senior management seemed to have experience and degrees but were somewhat ignorant to actual operation. There have been constant changes in management. Seemed like they couldn't get it right. They place was multicultural. But lots of illegals. Hence the constant flip on immigrants and pay difference etc.

I have been working at Coastal Sunbelt Produce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you go to work every night you will always have your job. Acceptable benefits. Great HR staff.

    Cons

The Pay for Performance is a Scam to extract free labor. Error`s` will cost you your Performance pay each night but solid proff of the errors will not be presented to you Warehouse conditions can be unsafe and unsanitary quite often. Bad holiday scheduling. (off on xmas eve and day before but work xmas night.) Unskilled and unprofessional people are put in charge.

I have been working at Coastal Sunbelt Produce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company has good benefits and the hiring process is quickly administered. The HR Staff is efficient and this is good for new hires.

    Cons

The management supervisors for the night shift are not as skilled as perhaps they should be. They allow too much playing around on the job and the workplace is not harassment free. I feel the management staff should be better trained in managing the workplace to ensure all employees are treated fairly and respectfully.

    Advice to Management

Train management employees how to be a supervisor. A better trained supervisory staff will make a more effective work culture and ensure a harassment free workplace.

I have been working at Coastal Sunbelt Produce full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on the person, workload is very minimal, supervision and overall responsibility is irrelevant, and pay is equal to, if not more than, the pay that the company gives to those left with the workload, responsibility, and liability associated with the operations of the warehouse and entire company.

    Cons

You're the opposite of the above, the employees in this group are expected to arrive earlier, on time, and if not exactly on time, reprimanded. Female employees favored, male employees exhausted with all the load. Very unfair treatment in the eyes of the workers, each employee is treated different.

    Advice to Management

See who the real workers are, the talented ones, and reward them and treat the others who get by with the same harsh reality of getting work done, or pay them less.
