I worked at Coating Excellence International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of improvement opportunities. Most people are friendly. Smaller company meaning more hats to wear. Very intelligent engineers with many years of experience to learn from.

    Cons

Lots of office politics. People get fired without notice. Emplyees would walk out same day without notice due to managemebt style. Company needs help.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your friends into management roles when they their knowledge isn't up to par.

    Pros

Community work atmosphere. Small enough company to know everyone in the office, yet large enough to handle fortune 500 accounts.

    Cons

Limited funding for research and development due to the fact the company was in the end of their private equity life cycle. Focusing on positioning the company for resale to the next private equity or strategic partner. Too cautious at entering target markets.

    Advice to Management

Focus on finding ways to differentiate the company and products, not just breakdown competitor structures and reverse engineer. Diversify from current product lines that are declining.

I worked at Coating Excellence International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent company the people and machines are great.

    Cons

Ever since Bill left and no one with a spine walks the floor to learn of machine problems or people complaints the plant has terrible moral. The management side needs the a review. The office needs to cut the fat.

    Advice to Management

Learn about fixing the problems. Rather than blaming the employees. Need to put money in to get money out. Can run lean on thing we need do more with less really!!!

    Pros

Decent pay. Great people on the floor to work with. They attempt to use a legacy approach to training with little success.

    Cons

Don't expect much from anyone above your supervisor. Ignorance is abound. Shifts change with little to no notice. They claim priorities are safety, quality, speed in that order, however supervisors are only worried about speed.

    Advice to Management

Leave your home problems at the door. Trust your operators know what they are doing and let them work

    Pros

very good work / family balance
    good pay

    Cons

Senior Management is unacceptable and operates on a good boy network. As a growing company that was effective but once cei was scaled, there needed to be experienced, non emotional leadership.

cei is growing without any strategy that people don't know what is expected of them.

There is significant fighting among departments, driven by in experienced managers and good boy network.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and start acting like professionals. Treat everyone with respect.

    Pros

Friendly people, lots of social gatherings, very open to vacations and time away from the office.

    Cons

Loosing its reputation and market share due to stupid and easily fixable issues.

    Pros

A nonunion company that is willing to invest in the company by purchasing new equipment. I applaud their actions by keeping jobs locally.

    Cons

My main concern would be that they are using this down turn in the economy to force concessions from their employees.

    Pros

Non-union manufacturer that can compete with foreign competition and provide the best service due to leveraging domestic location

    Cons

Unless the employee can crack the clique that exists within the internal organization, you're not going anywhere fast.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate employees fairly, promote from within, provide incentives to excel, be honest with employees, pay productive staff better
