I have been working at Cobb Theatres full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, and opportunity to advance.

    Cons

Political atmosphere in Cinebistro, and a lack of leadership at the DM level.

    Advice to Management

Worry more about results and guest satisfaction, and less about what makes you look good.

I have been working at Cobb Theatres part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

a great first or in-between job, you'll work with fun people (most are high school or college-aged), and most likely have great supervisors and friendly management. while you are required to work holidays and weekends, there's otherwise flexible hours and, if you have open availability, you're basically guaranteed to have 30+ hours a week. they also use a great app (when2work) to view your schedule, trade and pick up other shifts from coworkers, or directly message management. it's very convenient, i must say.

in addition, you do get to bring you and one other person to see movies for free, and if you earn employee vouchers you can earn posters, free popcorn/drinks, and free movie tickets.

    Cons

the amount of work you're required to complete versus the pay is absolutely not worth it if you're an individual who pays bills and lives independently! there's no work-life balance whatsoever, especially when you find yourself being scheduled for several closing nights in a row. not only that, but people will call out frequently and their workload will absolutely be tacked onto your own. this is incredibly burdensome, and most nights where i'm scheduled to leave at 12:00 or 12:30, i'm instead leaving at 1:00 or even 1:30 struggling to complete two loads of work with little to no help.

management hardly cares about their employees, and they are inconsistent with rewarding for good behaviour, selecting employees of the month, and giving employee evaluations. my location hasn't seen an employee of the month since april, and i haven't had an evaluation since january (they're required to be done monthly.)

cobb also has a terrible fraternization policy that, if you're found to be associating with a coworker who is at a title below/above yours (e.g. floor staff friends with a supervisor) outside of work, you can be immediately terminated. this is an absolutely asinine policy that i've never witnessed at any other employer, and can get longtime, reliable employees fired for simply having friends. they believe "favoritism" is a genuine concern, when this is absolutely not the case.

    Advice to Management

take your employee's suggestions more seriously, stay on top of EofM and monthly evaluations, and raise your pay! minimum wage is hardly enough compensation for the level of work you expect your employees to complete.

I worked at Cobb Theatres part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    meet some really great people
    easy
    free movies

    Cons

    Low pay
    really strict rules
    management
    rude customers
no way on moving up in the company ( don't think on becoming a manager if you are already an employee)
0.25 cent raise every year ( you only get the 0.25 if you are flawless and never made a tiny mistake) so your looking at 0.05-0.20 cent raises and they can also take away your raise if you are not performing to their standards
they don't look at your view it's always the customers.
the secret shopper is every month and if you don't cross-sell or upsell you will get written up.
    food is $2 off

    Advice to Management

stop being lazy, if we can't be on our phones then you shouldn't be on your phone either.
if you see a mess clean it up don't stand in front of it and call a usher who has to clean 2 theaters in the same time period.

    Pros

was given plenty of hours, team-oriented environment (especially in concession), coworkers are always helpful and nurturing to new hires, management is friendly and does their best to uphold high standards of customer service. working during busy weekend hours can get crazy and hectic but in a fun way

    Cons

almost no opportunities for raises/promotion based on seniority, too many managers, can often get boring/lonely when you're working late shifts on weekdays, if you're not careful they can give you too many hours

    Advice to Management

I really don't think our theater is busy enough to merit having 5+ managers. With the money you'd save by streamlining the management, you could offer better benefits to employees who are loyal to the company

I worked at Cobb Theatres part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a very easy job for the most part, and in most cases besides weekends, very underpopulated.
Co-workers are mostly friendly and easy to get along with.

    Cons

    Where do I begin?

Management is the absolute worst, with extremely questionable choices for supervisor positions, and those that have the position do little else that the standard co-workers don't, and often don't work as hard, most of the time they can be seen at guest services talking it up with managers and other supervisors about very non-work appropriate topics.
    The position really shouldn't exist.

Many of them have overly inflated egos, and are protected by Management bias and favoritism.

Management will actively seek excuses to fire someone they don't like for non professional reasons, such as giving an employee shifts they've never been trained to perform whatsoever, and hoping they screw up.
They may even make up false incidents to write you up, that they won't dare to show you if questioned about.

Management only enforces business policies and rules on whoever they choose, and they do not follow these rules themselves, just about anyone who isn't a minor doesn't clock out on break as they are required, eats spoiled food behind counters, etc. and yet they'll only punish those who they dislike, their supervisors do this as well but there will be no accusations of "theft" from them unless they develop a distaste for them which they won't because the managers and supervisors are very close, in and outside of work, and they won't fire more than a few people despite everyone disobeying company policies because they'd be left with no staff practically, and the higher ups would learn just how inept the current Liberty Luxury 15 management team really is, something they definitely don't want.

Managers will say to come to them if you have any complaints or issues, but they're really just putting on a facade, like their initial friendly attitude, they'll actually write you up or give you a C-letter grade(the worst you can receive.) for calling anything into question, I'm not kidding.

On the co-worker side of things, there are a few who are completely lazy and will hardly contribute to the team, of course they're friends with key staff favorites so they're protected despite any complaints.

Management is not very considerate, when it comes to scheduling unless you're a supervisor in which they let you make your own schedule 90% of the time, they will constantly give you the same kinds of shifts over and over, with promises to "mix things up" but they never come into fruition, no matter how many times you complain about it, Closing is really bad because you basically have to come in at the busiest time of the day, work the hardest, and shut everything down, but get paid the least since you will often be done closing two hours before the deadline, it's awful and really takes it's toll on your pay, instead of rotating, management chooses to subject one individual to the task repeatedly until they are done with them.

The Kitchen and Concessions do not always follow health policies they really should, and as such, rings of bacteria and mildew have formed inside the soda machine dispensers and they do not do anything to clean them besides dip them in soda water, which doesn't work.
Liberty Luxury 15 has failed health inspections several times, and isn't exactly the cleanest company.

I know I missed a number of issues, plenty of which are extremely questionable and very unprofessional, but what's here should be enough.

I understand that there are plenty of businesses that are similarly underhanded and/or have corrupt management, but I still feel like that doesn't excuse Liberty Luxury 15 from being exposed.

    Advice to Management

Grow up, don't play favorites, and put the business before all else other than being a decent human being, be more considerate, act professional and luxury like you claim to be.
Follow your Company's rules at all times.
Don't be immature, if called into question look into matters rather than punish employees for implying you may have made a bad choice.

I worked at Cobb Theatres part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a fun job in a great atmosphere. All the free popcorn and drinks you wish along with free movies for you and one friend and possibly mods with vouchers.(Only with a voucher on good behavior)
You get access to free movie posters and will work around your schedule . It's so cute to see little ones so exited about coming to the movies.

    Cons

A 25 cent raise yearly but they will find ANY excuse possible to cut your raise. (For example I wore the wrong shoes once and they cut my raise 15 cents even though I didn't get wrote up on that defence ) but have NO PROBLEM charging 5 dollars for bottled water. Only one person owns all 16 locations. Let that sink in. Also you get graded one EVERYTHING even how you smile. If they don't like you, they will find a reason to get rid of you.

    Advice to Management

Management should be on the same page about topics. And if a manager writes an employee up, it shouldn't be another manager making you sign a copy of the report . (9 times out of 10 the other manager giving you the report will not have a clue as to the situation behind your write up)

    Pros

Nothing At All. Poor unprofessional managers. Horrible workplace.

    Cons

This company is run by a corporate office, and the managers at local theater locations get away with a lot of unprofessional conduct.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff with more respect. You guys employ many high school kids, and if you don't respect these kids, eventually their parents will get upset.
