I have been working at Cofely GDF Suez full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I can honestly say that there are none. Looking back I can not think of one positive experience I had with this company. Upper management, corporate, immediate management and all co-workers were all amazingly awful people to be around. The overall culture of poor ethics, low integrity and petty attitudes ran rampant throughout the company.

    Cons

Unethical, unprofessional, mean, incredibly under managed. Most of my supervisors were incredibly under educated and did not belong in their positions. General Manager was an incredible drunk, immediate supervisor was a foreigner and vastly prejudice towards anyone other than "his own". Immediate supervisor was the most unethical person I have ever worked for. Company stealing and overbilling seemed to be an accepted practice and people who called them out on it were immediately fired.

    Advice to Management

    Fire everyone and start over.

I worked at Cofely GDF Suez full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

very supportive management, helpful coworkers, negotiable vacation, based on years of seniority, good benefit package, summer golf tournament, indoor fully equipped gym, summer Friday short hours

    Cons

very long hours (no overtime pay), often weekends to work without compensation - just to get job done, extreme multitasking, very tight deadlines, working on many projects at the same time

    Advice to Management

Coordinate better number of jobs taken for bidding,- according to the number of estimators; somehow compensate people for their dedication to get the job done no matter what

    Pros

Good location(Mississauga office), good company to enter the industry and gain experience.

    Cons

Lowest paid employees in the industry, this includes PM's, no pay raises, dishonest management, its shocking the people they select for senior management positions including the CEO and VP's.

    Advice to Management

Management had a real problem with good communication skills. I often heard colleagues say they felt bullied by management. I personally experienced this directly from the CEO. Management personnel were simply not competent. My advice would be to take better care when selecting management staff. The team that was in place in 2015 was a complete nightmare.

I worked at Cofely GDF Suez full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked as an Administrator - Great working environment and culture, I wasn't micro-managed which I prefer, able to make the role my own. Good basic salary

    Cons

Not much room for progression - promotion or up skilling was never mentioned to me in the 2 years & half years I was there. No 121's etc. Small pay increase but didn't reflect work putting in. Only offered more money when I handed my notice in.

    Advice to Management

Up skill Managers to provide the correct support and training, make it more clear about progression paths and help promote good talent from within the company

I worked at Cofely GDF Suez full-time

    Pros

    end of year bash
small potential of progression within cofely gdf suez
    management leave you alone
    not much else really

    Cons

    everything else
if you work for a council that has 'outsourced services' then be aware you may (and if you are actually providing a service) you will probably be working for an original council unit under the banner of cofely. They pretty much leave the respective areas alone, at least when I was there, primarily because they actually have no experience of running services where certain types of expertise is required (for example engineering or transport matters).

as such, your experience is likely to only be as good as your respective council unit is

    Advice to Management

continue to mind your own business of looking at pointless progress towards unremarkable 'goals' that your contract has set you and leave the actual work to council persons
