    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Cogent Partners as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are smart, cool, hard working, and passionate. Everyone there has a way of balancing a good time at work, and getting the job done. Most other places are stuffy and pretentious, but not here.... especially considering over half the employees are Ivy Leaguers

    Cons

can't think of any. Great culture

    Advice to Management

Maybe add some iced tea to the collection of beverages available.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Cogent Partners full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits (401k match, healthcare, etc), hours (relative to traditional IB; ~80/wk on avg), annual offsite in Vail all expenses paid are great. However, compensation is well below industry average.

    Cons

Compensation is pathetic and trails the street significantly in bonus % and raise %. Solid two year program then move on to greener pastures. Almost all analysts that leave have a bitter taste in their mouth because of this, which is unfortunate since the company excels in most other categories. You also don't gain the in-depth, granular financial modelling experience as you would at a traditional IB, which is a handicap when looking to make the next jump to PE.

    Advice to Management

(Partners) Show your appreciation to the employees that actually do the work; Cogent's reputation is worth the dent to your bottom line.
