I worked at Cognizant Softvision full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Typical IT company running almost 100% on staff augmentation business model that also for single client. Excellent company for those who are technical and want to give up any sort of career growth by staying on same position, pay scale and project for years after years. Company has very limited transit done in any aspect to Softvision or Cognizant yet.

    Cons

Whole company is dedicated to only one client. After acquisition original founder is now full time employee of that client, while other founder was already ex-employee of that client and still driving entire Arrow for them. Hence everything is defined and controlled by that client. High degree of favoritism, silent politics & bias management standards. Selected six seven people are controlling everything. Some of them are not even under leadership position. You will be valued base on your look and relation with these few people rather then you skills and contribution. There is no official HR or finance department or any HR policies. Office assistance have more insights of any matter and higher decision power then anyone else. They take credit on successive outcomes done by others while their own failures and bad decisions are thrown on someone else resulting in constant firing or lay off of people who actually worked hard and contributed for projects success and company growth . They know and control many numbers of projects which even project mangers dont have an idea. Since this is typical staff augmentation company there is no room for growth offered to employees. If you grow in any aspect then they develop concern that now they need to pay you more so or offer higher position, so mostly you will be fired or will be put in situation where you will walk out yourself. Constant travelling and very high workload.

    Pros

A good portfolio of clients and several interesting accounts. The company was continuing to grow (body count) and expand (technology offering).

    Cons

With growth, it is difficult to manage change.

I worked at Cognizant Softvision full-time

    Pros

There are no pros really, what you may think it's a pro, it's basically a lie when they do the recruiting process, nothing that was promised while interviewing actually happened. In fact the only pro is they always pay you on time.

    Cons

Lack of organization and very poor or non existing management, communication is terrible, and not even talk about the on-boarding process. They are expecting you to perform with no context, training or explanation of your job duties, but also they only focus on revenue and numbers, quality is completely out of their vocabulary. Be ready to sell or be fired, and if you're technical be ready to be fired as well if you make a minimum mistake, humanity and empathy are qualities that you won't find on the management team of this company. Sometimes you felt like you're treated as a slave, do as they say or you're out is the message. Companies like these are the opposite of what I'd call and good culture and healthy environment.

    I worked at Cognizant Softvision

    Pros

For those who telecommute, there's flexibility to make this job experience what you want it to be, provided you can maintain a great relationship with the clients and show them that you've got their back and also be honest with them about deliverables, expectations, etc... . There seems to be potential for success within Softvision for people who are really clear on what skills-path they want to take.

    Cons

The layers of structure within Softvision multiplied by the client's organizational layers make effective communication difficult sometimes, especially when there are multiple masters to serve, so to speak. Softvision seems to be going through some growing pains.
