I worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation policies are fair, work is rewarding.

    Cons

Massive layoffs, leadership lies, bad vacation policy (10 days per year), excessive hours required + oncall responsibility, poor organization, best resources are leaving the company fast! Management is chasing US employees out the door, irrespective of business needs and replacing them with offshore or H1B employees with no experience.

    Advice to Management

Stop harassing your employees and start retaining talent.

I worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

They paid on time even through the setup was very tedious

    Cons

They are not truthful about contract work details
They switched contract locations at the last minute and would not help with new costs.
They conduct unnecessary background checks and outsource that task to a company that is tries to sell $15 copies to the employee being checked.
They have outdated mandatory safety and conduct courses that look like they are from 1970 and the tools often break and don't give credit for completion
Their client Thomson Reuters had a software product called Eikon that rarely worked and had no desire to rrewrite it.
Their offshore team of product owners conducted Agile SCRUM meetings without a clue of the product and conducted Agile User Story and task building without the full team then expected new developers to pick up tasks and complete them.

    Advice to Management

Have some respect for experienced application developers
Prepare before you invite professionals to work on contracts
Come up to 2010+ time period and put experienced people
from the country you are in in management roles.
