I worked at Cognosante full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Met some great people on staff who are trying to escape. Got paid well.

    Cons

18 hour days. Countless meetings. You'll have to do your day job at night. Two-faced management. They won't fire you, they socio-pathically will make you miserable until you quit. Lots and lots of internal politics.

    Advice to Management

    Gain some ethics and empathy.

I worked at Cognosante full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good bosses, great hours, great friends there, great benefits

    Cons

Horrible rules, horribly expensive insurance, treat us like we were 2 year olds. You cannot go higher up unless you become management, and never ever do you get raises. Ever!

    Advice to Management

Quit giving so many people points, things happen, people get sick, children get sick, things happen, not a good enough reason to get rid f great employees.

I have been working at Cognosante full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work-life balance was nice. Some iterations, you could probably get by without working at all.
Generally good pay for the work you were doing.

    Cons

Please, listen. You're employable. You probably have other options. If you think you're going to make a difference in federal healthcare, you aren't. If you think you'll work with cutting edge technologies, you won't. If you think you may at least enjoy your job, you're wrong. The culture is bad, management is bad, and if you can code your way out of a paper bag, you will be frustrated by the environment that you are in.

    Advice to Management

You don't have a problem developing leaders because you don't have a formal program. You have a problem developing leaders because your talent leaves. Maybe we shouldn't be so authoritative?

I worked at Cognosante full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I did this job last year, went back for an "interview" and was not hired. Others in the same boat were not hired. This company, run by obviously by a Washington-connected crony, has a no bid cost plus contract with the past Washington administration to process Obamacare paperwork. When they began processing 1095s last year, they rented a million dollar per month building in Phoenix which they only use 4 months out of the year.

Now their hiring criteria is to load up with minorities which they may or may not have to retrain. They paid rent all last year (indicating they were effectively receiving taxpayer welfare) yet chiseled all employees seeking to return to process 1095s in 2016. (wages offered were cut in half.) So cognosante was so overpaid for this Obamacare contract that they were able to pay $7 million in rent for an empty building yet used their hr staff to chisel new returnees out of payroll and set a goal for their hr department of filtering out all the "old white people" But don't we all know that is what the hr (vs personnel dept.) hirelings are paid to do??

    --our government money at work

    Cons

A huge WPA project. The government pays these people tens of millions to do what a well integrated and well designed database system for Obamacare would have made unnecessary. People working at this Phoenix facility are effectively manually making up for the shortcomings of the database systems used to monitor obamacare.

    Advice to Management

Find an honest job and quit screwing the taxpayers. Learn how to design a functional database. Sublet your building in the offseason for swapmeets and refund the rents to the taxpayers.
