I have been working at Cohn & Wolfe full-time

    Pros

Large agency that offers more resources than smaller companies but still maintains a home-like feel; incredibly smart employees, ranging from junior staff to senior leadership; heavy emphasis on creativity and pushing the envelope in all things; values/recognizes high-quality work from teams and individuals; always seeks opportunities to unite employees under common goals; impressive client roster that allows for team...

    Cons

Heavy workload, as with all PR agencies, but this can often be addressed if clearly vocalized.

    Advice to Management

Continue to show employees how much you value their work, and loyalty will follow. Remember that even "work horses" (at all levels) have limits, so be on the lookout for those who are struggling or dealing with high stress.

I worked at Cohn & Wolfe full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There were some cool people. The best I got out of people was when I left the company.

    Cons

No work life balance, poor culture, poor middle management.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to middle management and make sure they're giving constructive criticism not demeaning the entry level staff.

I worked at Cohn & Wolfe full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only positive for me was the pay was good and it came on time. Other than that, it was a pretty negative experience.

    Cons

I was hired to manage a very large client who (unknown to me) had one foot out the door and the other on a banana peel. I knew there were challenges, but was told my position was not contingent on the client staying. I was thrown into the fire with almost no support and basically left to sink or swim. Plus, when the client cut back it's budgets, I was told my services were no longer needed in direct contradiction to what...

    I worked at Cohn & Wolfe full-time

    Pros

    You get experience in PR.

    Cons

Boring clients. Stale management that seemed very comfortable with the status quo. Terrible communication between management and the rest of staff. ZERO staff perks. HR was non-existent. It was all very cliquey and there was no office culture. NONE. If I could rate lower for some of the ratings I would. The best thing about CW was that you get to put big names on your resume but other than that the work was uninspiring...

I worked at Cohn & Wolfe

    Pros

I learned a lot about the different tools used in a large scale agency, and that has of course helped me as I've become a full time employee in the PR industry. I learned the importance of deadlines and how quickly you must work in an agency in order to meet these deadlines.

    Cons

The company culture is pretty awful to be quite frank with you. There are cliques within the agency, and I felt uncomfortable as an interned and often times I felt I wasn't welcomed. Specifically, the receptionist at the Austin location was very hostile towards me and made me uncomfortable every day in the office.

    Advice to Management

Please make your interns feel welcomed. If they make mistakes, remember that they are still learning. Help them instead of scolding them.
