I worked at Coldwater Creek part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for a retail associate in high school

    Worked around my school schedule

    Cons

You have to make a return for anything and everything. If the customer walked into the store with something that is clearly not from Coldwater creek, we had to refund their money.

    Not enough part time hours

    Advice to Management

The customer is not always right- regarding returns

I worked at Coldwater Creek (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The best thing about CWC was the customer base. Great ladies, fun to assist and very loyal. In the early days, the selection of styles, sizes and colors met a very targeted need/want for our ladies. In my store (181) we had a great management team that worked closely with meeting the corporate goals and still made it a fun place to work. Our entire staff had been employed for at least 7 years and I was there for 11 ½ years.

    Cons

There was a shift in the Corporate leadership that lost the focus on the customer. Young buyers didn't have the experience of serving the older client and the company thought they could shift the target market to a younger customer. When the styles started going younger and the popularity of the jackets was eliminated and the sizes were inconsistent (too many decisions to save money on fabric and make the seams smaller, the arms tighter, discontinue pockets, etc.)
the customers stopped buying as much.

    Advice to Management

We used to have 4 sales per year, at the change of the seasons. Customer's looked forward to those events because they knew they needed to buy while they could. Then Corporate started having coupons, lots of sales, a section in the store that had year-round sales items, every day was something new and confusing. There were times when we opened at 10 and by noon, we would receive a new directive for a different offer. Listen to the sales staff, listen to the customer. Don't re-invent a policy that is already working.

    Pros

Great co-workers, good discount. Nice customers. Good product.

    Pros

You could get a discount on some of the best and most useful items, including some really nice current costume jewelry.

    Cons

The hours were crazy. I wish they would keep the employees to even a semi-regular schedule, because every week was different.

    Advice to Management

Please work on making manageable schedules so that we could get to know some of the regular customers and develop a relationship with them.

    Pros

The management in the Grosse Pointe store was very good. There was a real team atmosphere.

    Cons

Very little pay for the amount of work. Especially for the people working on shipment or doing display changes at
night or in the very early morning.

I worked at Coldwater Creek part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This was a fun environment to work in. Flexible work schedule and a nice discount. Others employees and management were wonderful to work with.

    Cons

Position did not offer full time work, no medical benefits offered. Seemed like too many associates scheduled each day and someone would be sent home if enough business.

    Advice to Management

Stop offering sales and discounts constantly every week, regular customers will stop coming if they feel they can get the product at anytime and maybe cheaper the next day. Also, the clothing in the last year seemed cheaply made. Get new buyers!
