I have been working at Coles (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is good
    The people are lovely.
    The conditions are excellent
    The benefits are worthwhile

    Cons

Rude customers are always a bummer.
Sometimes the length of a shift doesn't seem worthwhile.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. More training for staff members would be something to consider, otherwise the environment for staff is lovely.

I have been working at Coles part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Meet new people
    Made a close friend
    Making customers happy

    Cons

You can get abusive customers - no training/little training with dealing with this.
Depending on who is the manager/dept. manager, you can be given tasks that are unrealistic with time frame.

    Advice to Management

Speak with all team members to understand how to set tasks/goals for them.

I have been working at Coles part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Consistent base hours, always people calling in sick so you can get more hours, incentives for management to keep staff happy.

    Cons

It's next to impossible to get a full time position in a pre-existing store unless somebody dies, retires, or gets fired. Even then, it's split into multiple part-time positions

    Advice to Management

You've been better with your budget, but you should give store management more leg room - It's hard enough getting RELIABLE people in, but you can't give them enough hours to keep them there and the customers happy. Every department at most stores I've been to has complaints about the budget and not being able to keep up

I have been working at Coles full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of work benefits from free samples to a very high salary.
You have access to a number of influential networks - mentorship to mostly be driven by yourself.

    Cons

Lack of support and tangible career development.
Work/life balance is close to non-existent.
You are placed where required despite being asked for your preferences and career goals.

    Pros

Easy job as long as you are physically fit. Over time pay is great for uni student, flexible hours to a degree.

    Cons

Boring work, just need to grind it out, only work for the pay. Manager may get on you if you're lazy, never happened to me though.

    Pros

Good part time job, usually easy enough to get casual hours as well. Good advancement in the operations department.

    Cons

Unreasonable expectations on when things can get done. Difficult to get leave during Christmas period

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and not always the bottom line. Work could get done better and more efficiently if this was the case

Good pay, poor wokin conditions though. Pay is good, customers suck, coles supermarkets does provide good benifits with the discount card

    Cons

Manager pressures, sometimes late nights also were pretty bad. Unable to take leave when required. Often expected to stay back at work unpaid during peak periods .

    Advice to Management

Ease up on staff, stamp out the pressure on having staff work for free.
