    Pros

Flexible shifts if you're a student. You can change your shifts every semester.

Much better pay than other student jobs (hospitality jobs for example). Thorough training.

    Cons

Coles' store managers sometimes just ignore the National Employment Standards.

Line managers could refuse to let you take sick leave even though they clearly see you're so sick you look like a zombie. Why? Because they don't have enough people they say. But what's the point of forcing someone to go to work when they can barely stand up.

    Advice to Management

Please make sure your employees are provided with all their minimum employment entitlements.

    Pros

    Other nightfillers are nice people.
Good casual rates and public holiday pay rates.

    Cons

The nightfill team has been told in team meetings before that if anyone is seen talking to another team member, they will be sent home. The team was also told that if you can't meet 65 cartons an hour, you will be sacked.
Nightfill managers and store management have unrealistic expectations.
Carton rates are too high (65 an hour). This would be fine if it wasn't included in crushing own cardboard.
Not flexible in changing working hours or arrangements even after 4 years working there. Hours included friday and saturday nights from 10pm to 2am.

    Advice to Management

Take a course on management and relearn motivation techniques instead of using punishment and intimidation.

  3. "Management"

    Pros

The staff co- workers are helpful to the training process and should get the acknowledgement for the support they give

    Cons

I don't know if anyone that can do something about these problems ever reads the reviews because nothing seems to have changed in the past 10 years or so, the standard of management is extremely low and they don't seem to know how to coordinate a roster at a number of different stores where i personally know employees. my daughter is now working at coles and she has had a couple of calls asking where she is and why she isn't at work. if you look at the roster online it says she doesn't have a shift and she is then being harassed for not being at work. I think there is a serious management problem if they can't even organise a roster, the most basic of functions I would expect a manager to be performing even a 14 year old could manage that.

    Advice to Management

Your management needs an overhaul. I expect this is falling on deaf ears but seriously you are inconsiderate to the only asset the leaves work each day and may not return the next. your employees are an asset, if they are not assets get ones that are, but you need to treat them as if they are assets.

    Pros

The team i work with are fantastic amazing. Couldnt have asked for better people to work with

    Cons

Hours get cut all the time cause management go over budget. Cant even afford to give us annual leave we are entitled to. When we do a close shift because hours are cut always short staffed theres so much to do and if its not done by 10pm we get introuble for staying back and introuble if the jobs not done. So some clock off at 10pm & continue working until 11pm without pay

    Advice to Management

Coles are all about customers customers customers but really they are about saving money. If you want happy customers who will return to yourstore PUT ON EXTRA STAFF thats needed so customers arent waiting forever in a deli line abusing us who are working our butts off all to save a buck
