    Good hour options Day/Night Shifts

    Cons

I have been working at Coles part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Made some great friends with co-workers
    - Feels great when you help a customer and make them happy.
    - Always something to do in the deli so shifts go quickly and are never boring
    - Slicing meat into perfect slices is somewhat satisfying.
    - Team discount 5% doesn't seem like much, but the savings add up if you do your weekly shop there and shop at other Wesfarmers owned businesses.

    Cons

-Can be stressful when you're the only one working in the deli and it gets busy.
-Tight wage budgets mean not many hours to go round.

I worked at Coles full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Graduate/DM salaries good
Meet some great team members who want to do a great job
Graduate program is versatile - have the opportunity to work in all positions

    Cons

General attitude in stores that graduates are 'skipping the queue' and stealing management jobs from people who have worked hard for years
Zero work/life balance from DM position and up
Seems like everyone in the company is physically exhausted
No structure to graduate program - often feel like you're just being used to fill the rostering gaps in stores
No one is actually accountable for graduate development at store level
Not enough investment in team member rosters
Reward and recognition is lip service - thank you cards are not enough

    Advice to Management

    Consider why graduates are leaving

I have been working at Coles full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Okay pay rate. 21-24 per hour
Meet some nice and understanding people.
5% off shopping discount, double discount during festival season plus exclusive My Coles team member hot deals.
Free fruit, instant coffee/tea/milo,toast etc in team room.

    Cons

Previously FT at meat department with very good pay rate and Weekend penalty rate as assistant. This May I got asked to work at Fresh Produce instead of Meat since company starts cutting hours crazily.
They cut more and more hours to keep only 2 butchers in a whole department, it makes only 1 butcher to work whole day without helper to do everything. Lot of Pressure!
My hourly rate is the same, I lose Sat's penalty rate(Meat has Sat penalty rate), and Sunday's penalty decrease from 2.0x-1.5x. Meat is really easy and enjoyable department to work with higher pay. They can't move you to other department If you are qualified butcher but I'm only meat packer. I wish if I went to do butcher apprenticeship, life is gonna be better now.
Fresh produce could be a miserable department. Head office thinks our store is not a super busy store, it used to be only 1 person to work from 5am-2pm. You gotta fill tons stocks, clear heavy load, pallets,do markdown, waste, order plus manager always ask you to do something extra.
The most disgusting thing is this company says Fresh produce team member is required to help checkout if they are busy! Non other department needs to.It's very unfair! They call you to checkout when you are on your own, work as fast as you can to complete everything. It always delay your work progress. You have no proper breaks plus over time. They won't pay you overtime. They require you make the department nice and full all the time, it is stressed all the time with working on your own.

    Advice to Management

Give real support to your staffs.
Regconise hard working team members, think them first when there are step up opportunities instead of using lazy nice talkers.
    Stop cutting hours severely.
Do something to those people always being late or didn't show up for work.
They destroy other people's nice work !
It leads the department into a mess next day.
