I have been working at Colfax full-time

    Pros

Better than average pay. Better than average benefits.

    Cons

Be prepared to wear a multitude of hats.
Better than 10 hour days without further compensation.
Mid-management is placed in positions of responsibility without authority.

    Advice to Management

You should place as high an importance on "V.O.A."(voice of associates), as you do to V.O.C.

    Pros

There are a few very talented and professional employees in accounts payable and collections!
Overtime for some hourly employees is allowed.

    Cons

This company is unprofessional and unethical.
Management does not tell the EMPLOYEES or CUSTOMERS the truth about many things. You will rarely (almost never) have any promotions from employees in Colfax! Almost all lower and middle management positions are filled from new hires and not from qualified Colfax employees.
There is entirely too much favoritism within this company!

    Advice to Management

Upper management must get involved in making positive changes and not just continue to use "smoke and mirrors" in an attempt to cover up the problems.

    Pros

    Fast paced environment, good pay

    Cons

Danaher -- those who worked there are favored. If not keep resume up to date

    Pros

Used to be a great company that cared about its employees. Benefits were good but slowly going away.

    Cons

Do not expect to be promoted based on your knowledge and ability. The newbie that comes in and knows the buzzwords of lean are promoted and it doesn't matter if they know manufacturing.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people that made this company great and quit worrying about how big of a bonus you are getting.

I worked at Colfax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, people, was close to my house when I worked there. I Had to write at least twenty words to submit this review.

    Cons

Worked as an engineer there for 6 years, and it was really enjoyable place until it went Public in 2007. From that point forward, corporate cronyism took over, and working there became an awful experience. More and more VPs and executive management were added, no raises, no bonuses for anyone in less than a plant management role, no advancement opportunities unless you were in the 'network', was made to feel inferior and unworthy. It was management's unpublished philosophy to treat people poorly- 'if they don't like it, they can leave.' Upper management chased off anyone who could actually think and challenge status quo. They brought in people to run the company who had never set foot in a manufacturing company before. The people were the best part of the job, lots of nice people working there (management excluded), and I still keep in touch with today.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the workforce, promote from within, stop the cronyism.

I have been working at Colfax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you like train wrecks - this one is a fun one to watch. Like a Shakespearian tragedy, you can get wrapped up in the story - the sound and fury, if you will.

    Cons

If you're on the train - not so fun. They have one way to appease wall street - cut people, close factories and move manufacturing to China.

    Advice to Management

Listen to customers, and employees. Quit the politics and backstabbing.

    I worked at Colfax full-time

    Pros

Dedicated to relentlessly improving the business and actively pursuing acquisitions.

    Cons

Culture is really bland and only about hard driving for results with no real sight of work life balance, and no real positive reinforcement to employees.

I worked at Colfax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent benefits. Good working people.

    Cons

Very poor management. From the old AND new CEO and throughout most of upper management. They are more concerned about running their "systems"and "looking good" to other managers to actually run the business. Notice I never mentioned the term "leaders". They don't have any good ones who are in the position to make positive improvements. Very sad.
NO work-life balance. If you aren't living for the company, you aren't thought highly of.

    Advice to Management

Run the business like you want to make money. Listen to the workers.
