    I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time

    Pros

    Health benefits still remain strong
    Salary was acceptable
The office in Atlanta has a mostly pleasant culture in my opinion
Opportunities are still available provided you want to move
Company store with Colgate products at cost

    Cons

I started with the company at a time when all other companies had already done most of their major layoffs and outsourcing. Colgate was behind in this effort it seems. In order to keep up with their competitors and keep the stock prices high, they went from a very caring company to a slow shift of job elimination through outsourcing and "efficiency and optimization" efforts. So having said that, here are the cons:
Very limited opportunities outside of moving from different states or countries
Feeling that your job could be outsourced at any time
Entire company shift to cost cutting has reduced quality of everything from our work to our actual products and packaging

    Advice to Management

My direct management is pleasant to work for, so my advice would be for upper, executive-level individuals. If we continue to focus on reducing costs, we will begin to reduce overall quality through the entire company. Our products and name will be damaged to the point where customers will no longer prefer it. Profits will drop, board member will not be happy, and because in the end its all about pleasing them, they may sell the company to squeeze the last of the cash cow.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits and perks:
    Health and Dental Care,
    Discounted products at Company Store,
    Tuition assistance,
    401K and bonus,
Work from home 2 days a week and
    Open work environment /floorplan.

    Cons

    Important to know:
Still expanding piscataway building to move more employees
Continuing project gateway: re-organization aka layoff of employees in all countries and move jobs to India.
Difficult to bring in new technologies even when there is a need and is aligned with Colgate strategy, business drives IT in this organization
Corporate politics - network and know people if you want to move up, don't necessarily need to be good at what you do.
Take note: 401K plan - after 5 years of service its required company take $3,000 of your pay and puts it into Colgate stock, in addition to whatever you are already contributing. Penalty received if you try to take it out, same with bonus.

    Steady industry

    Cons

If you are a young professional looking for energetic, fun, and innovative place to work - this is NOT the place for you.

    1. Slow and mediocre projects. Lack of Innovation.
    2. Business processes and systems are way outdated.
    3. Weak / unqualified managers - lack of foresight and vision.
    4. Very old school culture

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring clueless managers just to manage people. It is important to hire qualified folks that are forward thinking and have vision to help you lead the way.

    Pros

Decent Benefits, Some flexibility depending on your manager

    Cons

Declining morale, little advancement for good workers, Little merit for hard work - reward is more work & doing the job of the slackers. Extremely low, if any raises for staff - management keeps perks/incentives.

    Advice to Management

Consider actual performance when looking at headcount.

    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I liked the hours from 7am to 3pm

    Cons

Everybody treated the same , weather you bust your butt or not . The reward for doing a good job is more work . No performance evaluations . Job description does not match there expectations .

    Advice to Management

Find a way to evaluate individuals by there piers , not management . This will create a bond between team members and an incentive to work together building the team . After over 18 years with the company , Colgate has always had the attitude of " We are going to work together as a team and this is how were going to do it ! " That is not teamwork .
You can make a difference awards seem to go to those doing there job . Why don't you develop an undercover boss specifically to find out where your problems lie .... yes lie.

    Pros

    Great health benefits
Stable company, not likely will to go bust anytime soon
    Stock is growing

    Cons

    1) If you want a Marketing career, don't come here. Extremely dated marketing practices and old fashioned way of thinking. Most senior management are stuck in their ways and not willing to evolve with the times.
    2) cost cutting is rampant. Most people are doing the job of 2 or more people and are not compensated for it. They will make you do more work with stretch assignments but will not promote you any sooner. Promotions are based on tenure and if your GM likes you, not merit. Their view is only on the bottom line
    3) salary is average to CPG industry

    Advice to Management

    Value your people
    Promote high potential talent

    I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time

    Pros

Compensation is good per pay scale, if you ever get paid for the actual job you are made to do. Benefits/insurance are excellent. Bonuses are not very good, because they do not know how to gauge targets.

    Cons

Doesn't mind putting you in a higher responsibility role for months to years as an interim and never paying you for it and then not giving you the job, you busted your tale for. Too much politics to meet corrective action for hourly employee behavior. Treats the hourly employees as if they are more valuable than anyone in management. Management turnover is horrible. Constant lies to keep you, until they replace you. This is the same for a fellow team member who is also being jerked around as interim. A way to not pay you for your job or responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Value your leads and other management. The top level execs aren't in the plants doing the work.
