    Pros

A lot of opportunity for those who want to explore executive opportunities overseas. If they like you, it's the kind of place you can spend your entire career.

    Cons

The US company is not a fun place. Most of the opportunities are overseas. Still very much an old boys club.

    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In my position, I was hired earlier than usual. I came in through a non-standard internship in which I had incredible mentors, and then, access to a position in marketing that I would never have normally obtained without an MBA or 3 to 6 years of prior experience in my field. Therefore, I learned a lot, and met wonderful people along the way.

    Cons

The company is full of great people who are highly skilled in their fields. That said, there is a lack of potential to pursue creativity or innovation; or to build skills beyond the slow-moving corporate training. I could hack it now, but as a younger Millennial at the time, I reached a point at which I needed to branch out externally to further my career.

    Advice to Management

Do not discount the creative drive of employees. If hires need mentoring in a particular skill set, give it to them. Also, as a company leader, I would not begrudge employees assistance in further education other than MBA degrees. Instead, I would urge HR to consider what sorts of educational opportunities could be enriching for employees in a way that could enhance the capabilities of specific departments.

    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very comfortable atmosphere. Good working conditioss

    Cons

Much of their product interests revolves around the third world countries resulting in less manufacturing and job opportunities here in the US. Much downsizing as well through closures of facilities.

    Advice to Management

Develop more products and be more competitive in the US against P&G and Unilever to draw more homegrown talent; however, their buisness model seems to focus abroad. I have not been with this organinzation for awhile but still have good friends there as well as sometimes keep apprized of their activities.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

With the exception of paid time off, good benefits. Lots of training and employee activities. I had an office when I was there but those have been eliminated recently. Some opportunities for overseas assignments especially if you work in Finance.

    Cons

Extremely political. One person doesn't like you and you can be gone without knowing what happened. Also, some departments - particularly sales - are the typical "old boys network". Very conservative. Even in the worst heat of summertime, men are expected to wear long sleeve shirts and ties. In some ways felt like high school with all the "cliques" - just look at the cafeteria and how departments have lunch together and talk about other people.

    Advice to Management

More emphasis on better managers and people development.
