I have been working at Collections Etc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff here is amazing and my manager is the absolute best! I have been welcomed with open arms and accepted as a Winston family member. Working with 200+ associates is incredibly challenging and exciting but very rewarding. When issues arise they are handled with care in a timely manner so day by day I see more and more pros and it's going to get even better.

    Cons

Some employees, and the surrounding cities, have a bad memory of how Winston operated in the past and it still lingers. Fresh ideas are being implemented to help fix this issue so hopefully we can turn our image around 100%.

    Advice to Management

Many changes are being made to clean up the mistakes of the past. Continue moving forward and keep up the great work.

    Pros

Fun to sell home decor and make someone's day. If you can sell, you can make some good money on top of the hourly pay.

    Cons

They say they care about the employees. Well first off, they hire not within the company for supervisors. They also made people who have worked there for a long time sit back and train a brand new supervisor who knew nothing about the job. (Which should have been for employees who worked hard for it) they takes a sales script up from underneath their best sellers and no NOT give reconiginition or even ask if it's okay and give it to everyone else to use. They have a new supervisor telling people to make the sales or else they lose their jobs when previous years they used to have time off the phone to play games. They do some games but nothing like it was before when they weren't so strict on time. Also, doesn't matter if your moms or dads is dying, you goto the hospital or anything serious, a doctors note counts for nothing and you will get a point.
It's irritating they make it seem employee focused when they fire left and right and mess people over but act like a good company. It's now all about money.
Btw. Also. Do not miss more than 80% of your shift or your entire incentive check will be taken. Doesn't matter the amount.

    Advice to Management

Really care about your employees so when you advertise it is the truth. Meaning. Respect. No more telling employees what they need to meet or they get fired. Motivate employees through games and fun, and coach not discipline problems that need improvement first. Also. When people have doctors notes honor it. And the people who bust their behinds to make you guys lots of money need to really be rewarded. Even the ones who have improved. Not the same best top people all the time.

A really good company to work for. The company is growing, and the work is pretty much nonstop, but they make it worth while for your efforts. Lots of little things to show thief appreciation for your hard work,

    Cons

I have been working at Collections Etc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone is pretty awesome to work with (aside from execs)

    Cons

    THE REAL SCOOP
After being in the worst position this company could have been in (2010/2011) they recovered well by desperately trying to "convince" employees to stay with them. This worked and due to efforts by everyone the company started to pick up. Since then, sales have been growing each year however instead of having an outlook execs are making decisions to take perks away from associates.

GOING BACK TO THE ANCIENT DAYS:

    - This is a catalog company and biggest focus is that paper catalogs sent to customers are the #1 priority, even over online sales.

    - Most people were hired with the notion work from home was acceptable. Being a perk, a lot of people took on offers. Fast forward to now. Work from home is no longer allowed leading people to use half day or full day PTO even though they may only need to be out for one or two hours. To counter balance this, there are more "parties", which require you to stop your work and participate. This isn't always bad but when you have deadlines and goals to meet it isn't ideal.

    - Execs are involved with everything and micromanaging is the way of life. You can be on top one day and be in the cross fires the next depending on the moods of the execs.

    - Unorganized management brings in chaos for all.

    - Leave your personal feelings at home - your children, spouse or any other family members are not as important as what you do here.

    Advice to Management

This is pretty much the section where someone would give advice or suggestions for improvements. Since the philosophy is "In one ear and out the other" there's no use in directing this to management.

    ADVICE FOR APPLICANTS:
    - Understand whatever is in your offer letter will most likely not be fulfilled
    - If you enjoy feeling like your all is never good enough then this is a great place for you, otherwise, seek elsewhere
    - Trust can never be achieved: You will always be questioned with the perception you're doing something wrong

FINAL THOUGHTS - this company is soon to fail.

    Pros

Your co-workers are friendly and most of the time the customer's are too.

    Cons

    Insurance benefits could be better.

    Advice to Management

Management should have a work from home program. All of management should have to spend at least one eight hour day taking calls.
