I worked at College Station Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, good group of employees that have bonded well. They try to make the most of the inconsistencies.

    Cons

Very disorganized, short term vision, high turn around in leadership which has caused a huge problem with continuity.

    Advice to Management

Stay consistent and hold on to your talented employees.

I worked at College Station Medical Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some good people still hanging on. Some areas have reasonable amount of teamwork.

    Cons

Plagued with long-time seriously under-performing leaders that have been given every opportunity to run the place into the ground. CHS ownership has made this facility a money extractor in the community--no longer a health service for the community. The senior leaders have behaved with immaturity and elitism and have an inability to hear or act on the truth of their management performance. The turnover of the top management has been indicative of the problems at this hospital. But there are still some folks that need to move on before any real change can occur.

    Advice to Management

You have created the us vs. them environment--not the employees. What you call your "culture" is actually not what exists. When you come to terms with reality you will be able to move forward. Otherwise you manage over a waystation where people come and get their experience and go as soon as they can.

    Pros

    Great Staff, comfortable work environment

    Cons

Shady management, inactive in dealing with difficult employees and listening to staff complaints, do a horrible job at keeping employees in the loop

    Advice to Management

Hire people in management with an actual healthcare background instead of people who look at the bottom line $$$. Make decisions out of what is best for the patient, not the profit.
