    Pros

they offer payment for hours worked

    Cons

This school is a for profit school which is a big problem when students are pulling out loans for $20K plus a year for a school that is smaller than most Walmarts. I worked in the "call center" where you listen to voicemail's for hours at a time in hopes of getting someone on the phone, who most likely never requested information since they pay for names, to convince them to come in to see the "campus." I was told that if 20% of your appointments set show up for their visit that's a great percentage and seen as successful. Employees in the Admissions department sleep, eat, watch movies, and shop at their desks all day while "working" and then management gets annoyed with potential students not coming in. They complain about numbers but never offer training or guidance on how to improve as an employee. Management does not know how to motivate or engage employees and its not a positive environment. For young professionals its a joke and they have the audacity to require you to have a college degree to work there and they pull your transcript, I was so offended. The school is a joke and not a great education. When it comes to the "budget" you can be let go of at anytime because they suddenly don't have money for your position, and then they may call you back to offer you a part time position. Management told me to attempt to belittle potential students in order to get them to think about college "tell them that working at Bed Bath and Beyond is not a good goal, we can help you" Its hard to sell a dream you don't believe in especially when you call students that are in debit because of the school that promised them jobs.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage and make your employees satisfied. Provide opportunities for growth and stop selling a dream.

I worked at College of Westchester full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Just getting started with your career this would be a great place to start. Most of the staff is great. Building is always kept clean. Small class sizes. Professors really care....

    Cons

Being a for profit institution in this day and age is crucial to anyone's career. Admission tactics have been very aggressive to bring anyone is to the school. No matter their educational or financial background. This is due to the low enrollments.
Also you may come to work and find out you have to take on someone else's duties from then on out plus your regular duties without extra pay. Job titles change to make you feel special. Facilities staff very unprofessional as they like to flirt with staff and students.
Management doesn't show care for your outside life as schedule is not very flexible.

I worked at College of Westchester full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lovely people to work with who truly care about one another. Very small location with even fewer employees after a recent reduction in force. Small number of students to support and serve, and classes Monday-Thursday - very few on Fridays.

    Cons

Stability of the institution is questionable considering the fate of for-profit institutions. Enrollment is dropping consistently and recent layoff leaves the remaining staff and students feeling vulnerable.

    Advice to Management

Consider changes that will improve enrollment, retention rates of students, and graduation rates for those attending. The school cannot be run the ways that it was run 20 years ago, since times and students have changed.

I have been working at College of Westchester as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Close personal relationship from management. This family run organization engenders a great cohesive work environment. Comments and suggestions are heard and where possible implemented. Small tokens are givento employees at anniversaries and birthdays.

    Cons

Salary increases can be spotty. Separation from the day and evening employees has been spoken about but has not been adequately addressed.

    Advice to Management

Keep the open communications that are so much a part of the culture. The transition to new management was not clearly communicated and when communicated raised unnecessary cause for concern.
