I have been working at College of the Holy Cross full-time

    Pros

-Mission-oriented organization for a great cause
    -Friendly staff
-Atmosphere is not too corporate (going in that direction)

    Cons

    -No flexible work hours
    -No competitive salaries
    -Little room for growth
    -Outdated HR model
    -Out of touch VPs/management
-Nearly no work-life balance for salaried employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire a professional and modern HR staff. Reorganize senior leadership team. Senior management needs to have a clear vision and communicate it regularly. Don't make hourly employees feel like second-class citizens. We've been a directionless ship wondering lost at sea for years. Holy Cross used to be a great place to work. Not so much these days.

I have been working at College of the Holy Cross full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good salary, benefit and supportive advisers. I worked here for a year and half, I learned so much from all the other faculty members.

    Cons

isolated locations. The college is in Worcester, central Mass. Worcester has a high crime rate and the city is not relatively safe especially at night. Drug abuse is another issue.

    Advice to Management

It is a great school to work at. Nice people, nice students. Everyone is friendly to each other. You get to know almost everyone on campus due to its relatively small size compared to universities.

    Pros

Colleagues, beautiful campus, opportunity for spiritual growth, daily mass, participating in the spiritual exercises, close to 290, really good health benefits, extra time off at the holidays

    Cons

People are no longer treated fairly. People are bullied until they quit. I took a cut in pay when I left here but my quality of life is so much better now.

    Advice to Management

Since this is a Catholic institution it needs to practice what it preaches. Making changes in the way the institution is run is fine, even if it means that jobs go away, but don't bully people into leaving. Fr. McFarland is no longer in charge so the question below is not applicable. He would get a thumbs up. Fr, Borroughs gets a thumbs down.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good work study opportunities. Worked in several parts of the college. The best was as a caller for Phonathon. Flexible hours and bonuses. Provided meals

    Cons

There were not many cons. Ig you dislike cold calling it is not for you. One night they had breakfast for dinner. It was not that enjoyable. Overall there are not a lot of cons.
