I have been working at College of the Holy Cross part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff is very friendly and communicative. HR has not had any issues with direct deposit and keeps direct deposit over different semesters.

    Cons

Almost too much meeting and planning for what we are doing. Sometimes spend half of the time billed for planning to do the job instead of doing it.

    Advice to Management

Try not to over analyse the program. While meeting to ensure effectiveness is necessary, students know how they like to study and what works for them.

    Pros

Opportunities to be mentored in all areas of Advancement. Their recent shift to intentionally invest in recent grads, offering opportunities to grow and inviting new and innovative ways of thinking about the work of the office is fantastic.

    Cons

The college, including the Advancement department, is in the midst of a lot of needed and positive change but it is not the place to work if you want to maintain the status quo. Advancement leadership is invested in continual growth and change when needed. Some have found that environment difficult if they are invested in keeping things the same

    Advice to Management

Keep up the important and good work!

I worked at College of the Holy Cross full-time

    Pros

Can see the group getting to a goal.
The offices, outside OAS, are filled with really great, hardworking people.

    Cons

Do not work in the OAS office if you are going to work in Advancement at HC.
Horrible work environment. Stressfull and hostile.
Assistant director was promoted too early and given way too much responsibility. Way more than she can handle, personality is not suited to be in a position of power. Does not lead or manage the group well.
The pay is not great either, especially when you have to put up with the boss in OAS.

    Advice to Management

Remove the toxic people as the entry level positions will continue to be a revolving door where people will not even make it a full year because of the toxic environment created in the OAS office.

I have been working at College of the Holy Cross full-time

    Pros

-Mission-oriented organization for a great cause
    -Friendly staff
-Atmosphere is not too corporate (going in that direction)

    Cons

    -No flexible work hours
    -No competitive salaries
    -Little room for growth
    -Outdated HR model
    -Out of touch VPs/management
-Nearly no work-life balance for salaried employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire a professional and modern HR staff. Reorganize senior leadership team. Senior management needs to have a clear vision and communicate it regularly. Don't make hourly employees feel like second-class citizens. We've been a directionless ship wondering lost at sea for years. Holy Cross used to be a great place to work. Not so much these days.

I have been working at College of the Holy Cross part-time

    Pros

There are a variety of jobs available on campus to suit anyone's abilities.

    Cons

First year students don't have much of a choice. They have to work at the dining hall. It's tradition, though. Not really a big deal.

    Advice to Management

I love this school and everyone I have worked for has been great.
