I have been working at Collegiate Housing Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome corporate staff, flexibility, ability to work in the office and be out in the field

    Cons

Subletting apartments equates to being a middle-man between students and apartment management, it can get messy and there's a lot of documentation and tracking needed to keep up.

    Advice to Management

They're rolling out lots of new procedures that are helpful to field employees. Keep those consistent, and things will only continue to improve.

    Pros

Employer treats employees extremely well. Fun activities.
A good variety on the work load that needs to be completed.

    Cons

Don't know who you are supposed to answer to in the dept.
There is a lot of back stabbing going on in this company. Every thing you think is used against you.

I worked at Collegiate Housing Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    A lot of autonomy.
Supportive team at the corporate office
    Ability to travel
    Generous holiday and pto allotment

    Cons

Serve too many 'masters' (CHS, the schools, the apartment staff, and the students)
No real opportunities for advancement, especially if you come in as a fulltime DOH
Low salary and expensive health benefits.
    Training definitely needs to improve

I worked at Collegiate Housing Services (More than a year)

    Pros

It is nice helping students and making sure they can get through school.

    Cons

Lack of training - but they are working on it.

    Advice to Management

You need to have a way to hold employees accountable - for attendance. Although you are working on training and development you need some standardized manual and explaining a procedure once and expecting an employee to understand doesn't work.

I worked at Collegiate Housing Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The collegiate housing staff I worked with in the actual MARKET were incredible, at first. A lot of emotionally driven individuals who were passionate about the outcome and development of the program. However, lack of guidance, growth and communication from corporate drove them into a bitter state and ultimately created a depressing environment as time went on.

    Cons

This position is great for someone who is looking to possibly retire, is fresh out of college or was recently laid off and needs an "in-between" spot. Very low pay, little communication from corporate and no room from growth. A lot of things to consider when you're at the school and/or out in the field. Developing relationships with staff, students, parents, UTI and properties. Too much involvement for a job that is not a long term position. High turnover - Great concept, but needs a lot of changes that I do not foresee happening.

    Advice to Management

    Good Luck.
