I have been working at Colliers International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Learning & growth opportunities - even after being here for 10 years I feel like I'm still learning and being challenged everyday. I've been given so many opportunities to grow and take on bigger roles.
Ability to contribute - even though we are a large organization everyone has a chance to bring forward ideas and be part of making positive changes.
The company asks for feedback through surveys and takes action. We are now recognized as a Best Employer in Canada.

    Cons

Needs to invest in more or better technology.

    Pros

    Morgue-like Class A Office Space!

    Cons

Valuation is step child to real Colliers...and feels it; software is a cobbled together excel sheet(s) that dims the lights in the building then locks up; but pales in comparison to "training" that apparently consists of hacked together VHS videos of rambling techies who lived in their parents basement when it was appraised last year...

I have been working at Colliers International full-time

    Pros

We have a staff of super talented people who use their strong suits to collaborate with great results. We work hard and always try to work smart to accomplish our pre-set goals in commercial real estate. Education and growth is important and we offer lunch and learn programs and have a huge selection of classes available online through Colliers University. Our Research associates are amazing and we have fabulous and accurate amounts of comparative data available to use in our work. We learn from past experiences because lessons learned only make us better. Focus is important because we work at a fast pace but since tasks are divided up among a team, it all comes together. I know I work as though my task were the most important part of the project because teamwork is what gets the job done. We have a wide array of clients from non-profits to corporate giants but each one gets 101 percent from us because each end result and success is important. Technology is our friend, because of it, we can serve a large number of clients and conduct many projects. Our management team assures that we have the tools --both hard and software that we need to be current and successful. We are a respected corporate citizen. We take time, talent and treasure for corporate philanthropy because community, stewardship and compassion matter. Colliers - Raleigh is the proud holder of the TBJ Corporate Philanthropy Award for medium companies in the Triangle for 2017. Somehow, we save enough time to have FUN and celebrate our wins via potluck lunches and patio parties. I am proud to be a team member here at Colliers - Raleigh.

    Cons

We have grown tremendously so space is at a premium. We have to make the most of every square inch. We could use more collaborative spaces - and also a few more private ones for those important deal-closing phone calls.
We used to have a parking problem (not enough) - but that has been rectified.

    Advice to Management

With growth comes growing pains - Management does listen but cannot fulfill the wish list of everyone - at least not now. I think the fact that they are listening and talking to the staff about what improvements we can make is a great start. My suggestion would be to take the best ideas and try to act on them but to always keep the lines of communication open.
