    Pros

Loved working for this company. Great culture, lots of events that employees really wanted to be a part of. Work/Life Balance was great. Definitely felt like a second family.

    Cons

None that I can think of.

I worked at Colliers International (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great global network of brokers who are usually willing to help out with assignments.

    Cons

Management is indifferent and gives no support to employees. Sink or swin, they couldn't care less either way.

    Advice to Management

    See above and fix it.

    Pros

    Decent benefits and annual bonuses

    Cons

Managers say one thing and do another; hiring is based on looks and gender; no performance feedback; paternalistic culture (typical of most companies in this industry, I realize).

    Advice to Management

Eventually someone will be able to document a sexual harassment lawsuit, do some work with your mangers on hr practices and make them actually listen.

I have been working at Colliers International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and there is a strong sense of community. The office is generally laid-back. Good supervisors and clear career path.

    Cons

The valuation department is noticeably separate from the much larger brokerage team. It is harder to connect with the brokerage team if you are in valuation.

    Advice to Management

I think that the pay before becoming a licensed appraiser is very low. I understand that it is a bit of an apprenticeship type industry, but once an analyst learns the ropes (in about 9 months), they are essentially putting in the hours taking on the responsibilities of a licensed appraiser. The industry isn’t very appealing when you know the salary will be so low while doing so much work to earn your license.

    Pros

    Great staff to work with.

    Cons

Too lenient and trustworthy therefore causing resentment between those who work and those who goof off without reprimand.

    Advice to Management

Need to monitor more closely and make sure your employees are even working. I worked with someone who came in late, took long lunches, then left early every day and she’s still an employee. I quit because I was doing all the work and they didn’t even know it. That’s not good!

I worked at Colliers International full-time

    Pros

upper management is very competent, friendly and there are many resources to get the job done. Promotions from within do happen here

    Cons

Work life balance nonexistent. Was expected to be on call 24-7 as well as in the office from 8-6. Supervisor was not qualified and had no talent for leadership. Supervisor’s own lack of confidence/insecurity created many issues and needless drama. There seemed to be an unusually high turnover rate overall throughout the different departments.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at who you have in leadership roles. All good leaders tend to trust in their people, and sometimes you can get fooled by a pretender. A good place to start would be to check which positions have had the highest turnover within the past 12 months, and analyze from there.

I worked at Colliers International full-time

    Pros

    Most people were friendly enough

    Cons

Colliers as a whole runs very lean. The office I worked in, local leadership was so frugal, it was debilitating. Also, the local HR/administration manager was a joke and should not be in that position. Brokers run the show and support staff is not really valued. Since Colliers has slowly acquired offices, there is a huge disconnect between the different offices. Every office seems to be doing something different and there is no real communication or sharing of resources.

    Many Offices and transfer opportunities

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the 'little people' who are running your offices.

    Pros

Not many, free treats once a month for birthdays?

    Cons

They don't seem to value their employees. It's tense and there is a huge lack of communication.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to actually address the employees not just the brokers.
