I worked at Colliers International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice offices.
    Met some great people.

    Cons

Certain higher ups were difficult to work with.

    Advice to Management

Things were pretty decent, but for the assistants - a better holiday bonus would be nice.

I worked at Colliers International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits. Flexible schedule at times (work from home). Very reliable, responsive, helpful IT team (valuation IT team). That's all.

    Cons

Expectation is a bit high from management to trainee level. Poor management structure with lots of grey areas. Very minimal training available. Zero respect or consideration for any employee who has an opinion. Unless you plan on working here forever or don't mind being micro managed/spoken down to often, I don't recommend this work place as a positive encouraging environment because they'll turn their back on you the second you mention looking at other opportunities or resign. Saw this happen on multiple occasions. Tip to management: conduct exit interviews. Perhaps that would have helped explain the 50% turnover rate in 1 week in a single region.

    Advice to Management

Conduct exit interviews and listen to your employees. You may not agree with everything, but at least listen.

Pay better and hire better qualified analysts to properly allocate the portfolio

I worked at Colliers International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great interview process. I had 2 interviews and was offered a job.

    Cons

Pay is great. Benefits are too expensive. The department I worked for the technology was a little behind the times. The solution thats being offered to clients is not stable. Crashes to clients databases would not be discovered for weeks. The department I worked was very fast paced and short staffed. No training was offered. You were expected to learn as you go- self training. Which was highly impossible on the old solution that was not window based. You were also expected to work constantly. Management even called late at night if issues arose. Management is the worse!

    Advice to Management

Even highly skilled employees need training. Hire managers with management experience. Hire honest managers who take responsibility and not make their employees the scapegoat. Luckily for me I found employment with another company less than a two months after I left.

    Pros

Great internal training and education system - Colliers University. Senior management very approachable, not hierarchical. Company was trying to become a top employer.

    Cons

Still abit of an old school brokerage company, male centered and not much career progression for non broker staff.
