I worked at Colton Joint Unified School District full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      Benefits and that’s about it.

      Cons

-If you are new they will load you with the majority of the work while the other CWA only does intra&inter transfers. -you will be paid 2 ranges below the other CWA -Coordinator favorites the other CWA but will tell you that you are her “right hand” -They will team up against you -very unprofessional; come in whenever they want leave whenever they want -you can be dismiss within your 1 year probationary period...

      Advice to Management

Distribute work evenly, no fraternization, audit as to why you have a lot of employee turnover, fair pay, and most importantly care and work for the better of the students and their families.

      Pros

Superintendent brings an energy to the district which is refreshing. Lots of opportunities for professional development.

      Cons

Union is weak. Some of the managements' styles of leading are absurd an convoluted.

      Advice to Management

Your immediate focus should be on middle management training and team building.

I worked at Colton Joint Unified School District part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Easily find multiple jobs posted at many sites throughout the district. Building rapport with principals/admin staff will get you recommended for longer term assignments.

      Cons

Policies vary greatly from school to school. Without initiative to learn them on your own, can easily be left in the dark about culture/work environment at different sites.

I worked at Colton Joint Unified School District full-time

      Pros

Benefits, hours, and holidays Pay was not competitive all based on union negotiations.

      Cons

No mobility on the administration side. All based by seniority and only teachers get promoted to leadership roles.

      Advice to Management

Take business courses and implement technology that will provide metrics. Many promoted teachers don't know how to manage people or budgets.

I have been working at Colton Joint Unified School District full-time for more than 20 years

        Pros

Management listens to its staff and works hard to keep everyone happy. The district does its best to stay current on technology and training its staff on teaching practices.

        Cons

Having to take time out of the classroom for trainings is tough. Wish they built in more professional development days.

I worked at Colton Joint Unified School District part-time for more than 4 years

          Pros

The pros of the position is that I was one-on-one with multiple students in a classroom setting. It gave me tons of first hand experience and let me be social in a professional setting.

          Cons

I started to work for them before I was seventeen and I couldn't be paid until I turned eighteen. Other than that, the work does conflict with your school schedule from time to time, but they always work with your schedule. It was also part time work, so you really didn't make much.

          Advice to Management

Have someone who is looking for more to do become the coordinator rather than having someone who has way to much on there plate.
