I worked at Columbia College of Missouri full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition exchange program offers full in seat tuition grant on campus and percentage online and with other colleges within the program for staff and children. There's also holiday pay, vacation, and sick leave.

    Cons

Main campus executive management is still a good ol' boys club despite the changes made with the new President and his staff.

    Advice to Management

Listen to and believe your staff. Pay more attention to nationwide campus locations.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Columbia College of Missouri part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got to work in many student worker's positions from Utility Service Worker, to Administrative Aide at the Enrollment Management Division, to Resident Assistant for the Dorm rooms, and as a Student Assistant for the Grossnickle Career Services Center.

    Cons

The student workers' positions where limited due to funding and only on the basis of being a student register to taking classes at the college. I was fortunate to land those positions but the search was difficult due to lack of opportunities for international students such as myself.

    Advice to Management

    Keep adapting and moving forward.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Columbia College of Missouri full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone (especially those in my department) got along well, creating a fun and competitive work environment that spurred creativity and high achievement. The departments are very interconnected, which helps each employee understand and support the overall mission and purpose of the college's operations.

    Cons

A few departments are set in their ways, initially resisting new ideas. So change, or adaptation to it, can be slow.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the ideas of your newer employees and consider them seriously. You hired them for a reason and paying attention to their innovative suggestions will improve your operations and make them more invested in the college's future.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Columbia College of Missouri full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are still several benefits intact with Columbia College but due to the recent (last year to year and one half) changes within upper Administration there are innumerable changes and what used to be a solid and "safe" place of employment has become somewhat unsure.

    Cons

Too many changes and not enough stability for employees that have been with the instition for a length of time

    Advice to Management

People are important, they are not a commodity

    Cons

    Advice to Management

    Consider livening up the atmosphere

I have been working at Columbia College of Missouri full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Learning on the job and the ability to try new things.
-New president has a good vision and the outlook of the college looks bright.
-Fun work environment with good people that are very talented.

    Cons

-A lot of red tape to cut through when getting things approved in the upper levels of management.
-The industry is losing money fast, so some benefits could be stripped as budgets are tightened.
-Reorganization of many departments has caused some uneasiness around the college. A lot of things change here on a yearly basis, so it's hard to feel consistent with your job duties.

    Advice to Management

-Keep the great culture of Columbia College going and good things will happen.

    Pros

Coworkers were very friendly, CC hired people of all ages, the cafeteria is wonderful, the benefits were the best

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Columbia College of Missouri full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working here is nice because it feels like an extended family. There is ample opportunity for professional growth and there are celebrations for staff that include meals and recognition.

    Cons

The health insurance benefits are expensive and coupled with the low range for salaries here, many workers are actually paid below the poverty line. Poor performance also seems to get rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Please seek alternatives to health insurance costs and look into increasing salaries as much as possible. Thanks.
