I have been working at Columbian Logistics Network full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management group really cares about both the business and the people. Both employee and product safety is taken very seriously. Customer service is very important and the company recognizes those employees that make the extra effort.

    Cons

Operations are going twenty four / seven and there are times when people need to work even on holidays. The company is spread through out Grand Rapids and employees work various hours so it is difficult to communicate to everyone at once.

I worked at Columbian Logistics Network full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a good place to work. Learned a lot from the people I was working with. Getting payed every week was a good thing. Lot of lifting, kepted in shape.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement, closed down Department

    Advice to Management

Having good people to work for your company, and put there all into what they are doing for the Company, The Company should of put there all into the employees, to work out a contract with the company they were dealing with to continue to Deliver there product. Instead of just closing down the Department and putting out there people that are working for them out of a job.

    Pros

The people there are great, everyone is friendly and hard working. I really enjoyed working with them, and for them.

    Cons

The pay was pretty low compaired to other logistics companies

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries to gain more qualified candidates. The only reason why I dont want to go back there after I graduate is because their salaries are way below industry average.

I worked at Columbian Logistics Network (More than a year)

    Pros

Transportation and Warehouse managers (for the most part) care about their employees.

    Cons

Management is so disconnected from the staff it's laughable. The upper management think everything is fine and that is so far from the truth. They do not let their union employees comes to company events like the yearly company outing. They fired one employee for talking to a union employee from another company. Say that it was due to something else but management knows the real reason.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

I worked at Columbian Logistics Network (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. They make coming to work fun. Good team work.

    Cons

Huge disconnect between the floor and upper management. Those making policies and decisions do not have any idea on what it takes to get the work done and leave the answers up to lower management.

    Advice to Management

Take what the floor workers have to say to heart and stop asking management and taking their word for everything.
