I have been working at Columbus State Community College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

CSCC has a great focus on improving the communities in Columbus and several programs are in place to do just that.

    Cons

Being in a grant-funded position, it is difficult to have security in the position itself. Often times the work and strain on the brain doesn't match the compensation.

    Advice to Management

Figure out ways to fund the successful programs that bring the college public notoriety to allow the hard workers to maintain important jobs.

    Pros

Good supervisors who work very hard, flexible hours, great students.

    Cons

No benefits. Hard to get enough work to make ends meet if you were the main provider of your household.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more full-time instructors.

I worked at Columbus State Community College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The students ,faculty and some staff are what makes it bearable.
The pay is not bad, there is a lot of favoritism at review time.

    Cons

Administration didn't think that some one working there for more than 5 years was flexible. A lot of supervisors have no training in supervising. Communication is the only what you need to know to do your and the nice to know that will not effect the outcome of a decision. If you are inherited. There are some people that can get away with doing the minimum

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as you want to be treated , engage with them, complement on a good job and don't dwell on the negative. Management needs more hands on and don't assume. Usu, ally there could be more than one way to do something. it doesn't mean one is better than the other, it could be a different thinking process or experience.

    Pros

Great facilities and faculty and programing.

    Cons

Focuses very heavily on degree seeking students...many of us are looking for the skills more then the sheet of paper.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and stay connected to your community.
