I have been working at ComForcare part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can get work right away.. it's a bs company. I just have to type 20words here so here it is

    Cons

Was given a reference to call a person for work and would be guaranteed a job. (I was 5 months pregnant at the time so finding work in my new field that would hire me was awesome). I contacted the "i don't even know her position" lady, told her my work conditions, and she said she would send me testing, and send me jobs as the come along. There was a test that I needed to complete on basic stuff that took a little while to complete... a few days later, she had given me a job for a week and she would meet me there. (Remind you, she doesn't even have a copy of my DL). I started working, into a few days, she gives me paperwork to fill out at the guys home I was working at, and she didn't pick it up until the following week. *unprofessional* after a while, I was assigned to work on shift at one house from 9am-9pm. Eventually that became my only day working. One shift, she changed the schedule I'm guessing the night before and didn't give me a heads up. I drove all the way to the client's home and another caregiver was there waiting to go in @9. Turns out she changed my schedule to 2-9pm. So I had to drive back home and back again. And at the time she was under the impression that I was still catching cabs before I had a car. When she found out I had a car, she started giving me further shifts that were shorter hrs. More mileage and gas for me. The client I was attending for from 9-9 passed away at 10:30am and I stayed until hospice got there and until the family wanted me to leave which was 3.5hrs into my shift, I was not compensated for the rest of my time. I ended up getting out on bed rest from my doctor and needed a note to apply for benefits elsewhere from my employer stating that my LOA would be unpaid. She stated that was something that didn't exist. I asked for a copy of my employee handbook and she told me I should already have it.... that's why I asked for a copy. A week later she gives me this bs note with my name spelled incorrectly and a copy of the book. Under the page for LOA it clearly says "unpaid leave of absence... please reference to the unpaid leave of absence addendum". I asked if I qualified for an UNPAID LOA and I was told no. I asked for the addendum, I was told until I gave her more information on what I was trying to do, I can have the handbook as it is handed out. I called the 1-800 number and asked about my situation. She started giving me attitude saying that if I had a note saying I was on bedrest, they don't need to write me a note and asking for me to go into detail about what the note is for. All I needed was for my note to say "_______ is employed with ComForCare and will be on a unpaid LOA until _____" . I was also told by someone in cooperate that since it's a franchise, there's nothing they can do because each business can make their own rules. Did I forget to mention that when she found it that I had a car, she wanted to give me a job that required carrying clients and I did not have my license yet. Also if I told her I couldn't work, she would still ask me to work after we would just have a discussion on why I couldn't work and when. Neither was I on the schedule to work any shifts besides my 9-9 that she would change without telling me. And there's no benefits whatsoever. You're just working for the paycheck

    Advice to Management

Change the way you treat your employees

    Pros

I'm required to put at least 20 words in this space unfortunately I can't think of a good reason to work there.

    Cons

I've been in this field for more than 20 years and never have I encounters such unprofessionalism, or such lack of leadership. The owner of Michael Costigan is by far the worst business man ever. When your business suffer so poorly that you can't retain workers it speaks volumes to your abilities to run a company. Tge administrative staff has such a high turnover rate it's astonishing. The caregivers more clients know who the players are because they change so frequently. I don't know how they're still in business. You know it's bad when you have to use $30,000 of your own money to save the business. They sent unlicensed caregiver to take care of clients requiring skilled care . So often clients go without care and without warning because they don't have enough caregivers. During my stint at this particular office I've witnessed physical altercations between administrative staff and caregivers. Executives intoxicated on duty. Staff allowed to bring pets and children in the office clients. It's terrible. They are not accredited and probably will never be because they don't have an understanding of HIPAA laws and they don't have staff that are knowledgeable about accreditation requirements. Save yourself the trouble and go to another agency

    Advice to Management

Do better by your clients and employees. Be a little more professional. And learning your business.
