I have been working at Comau full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and hours; very limited contact with management; no one standing over your shoulder. Can be good, usually is a bad thing. If it is not done Italy's way its not done right. Never question the way that the higher ups want it done, even when you consider it to be elementary and lacking details.

    Cons

Poor pay, poor advancement, lack of employee development. (though they claim to pride themselves on it). Very few people internally that have anything good to say about the last 25 years of their employment. Usually a lot of moving positions and trying to keep people doing a "sheep" type job for as long as possible.

    Advice to Management

Become more involved with your employees if you are going to claim to have that as one of your pillars. Management should stop being weak and define what is going on here in the US to the higher ups. Instead of just jumping on the bandwagon and following the ship to the bottom of the sea.

I worked at Comau for less than a year

    Pros

some prospects of career development, if you know the right people or have a good manager, which are rare you could balance work / life if you didn't fear for your job

    Cons

    - low pay on contract /h, no paid leave, no sick leave, no bonuses, cap on hours put in, basically bypassing all obligations of employer - employee - 'team work' only when some manger needs something, and usually it urgent - don't expect to be 'employed' if they don't get a contract with a customer; I do mean the second they loose a bid, you are out. There is not even an attempt to absorb some costs associated to... keeping workers. No work, you're on the list; don't know anyone important, you're on the list. Normally if there is no work, some companies ask employees to take a few days off, put in a few less hours etc. Don't expect that here. You are just a number.

    Advice to Management

I'd give advice if I'd care about this company, not that Management would listen and change anything. This is merely a venting tool....

I have been working at Comau full-time

    Pros

People at the shop floor are technically prepared although they always try to make things more complex than they are.

    Cons

Salaries are ridiculous, top management performs only on the basis of perceptions and sensations, no long-term vision. If you are someone's friend, Comau is the right place for you.

    Advice to Management

Please stop taking approximate decisions and quit treating people as objects.
