I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent commission structure, company incentives. The sales training is excellent

    Cons

Awful hours, company has a different "incentive week" every other week to try to get you to work weekends. The only way you can make a decent living is working 10-12 hours a day and sometimes weekends. The time you put in is not worth the money you get out

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clock out time. Lunch time. Break time. Cafeteria is nice. People are ok . Location is nice and is in downtown chicago.

    Cons

Call center managers. Micromanage, favoritism, inconsistent, overpayed. Too many changes but not for the right things. Systems are horrible and outdated. Desks falling apart

    Advice to Management

Top management need to be replaced or our directors and managers need more education.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great policies that helps people at the time of need and it's satisfying to know that when a life event happens you assisted in protecting your client

    Cons

They say they promote on merit vs tenure ; sure that works in other parts of the country than in the mid-Atlantic region. They say you are in business for yourself but not by yourself but that is far from the truth ; once you are outside of your 26 weeks get ready for no support or assistance ie: coaching.
Lots of meetings weekly and monthly market meetings for agents / AE in those positions.

The most valuable meeting is the twice yearly regional meetings bar NONE hands down.

This is 2017 not 1990 ; things that worked then in: marketing, management , HR don't work the same today .

There is Favoritism, NEPOTISM-- even though they say they don't directly report to them. NO home office oversite of the ZONE personnel , if your not one of their cohorts / buddies your are on the outside looking in on the IN crowd . If you have a chance please consider other avenues of employment else where don't waste your time here especially not the East zone or Mid-Atlantic region

Have Upper management with Degrees that are in the business, marketing or insurance fields not ---- a High School Diploma.

Personnel in the agent/fieldarea has a High High Turn-over!!!!

NO follow thru , No Trust built up from agent to DM's , MD'S
Promoting certain employees over others that have more merit than others that are a better fit for that mid level management position

    100% commission based position

    Advice to Management

Management shouldn't be micro managers to adults that know their craft.

Need to rotate management positions more often ; (esp: HR business partners; all they do is anything to protect their job and not look or assist employees at all just be better off talking to a wall.) ; this would grow the company and allow all people to shine with out being suppressed by not being their pal, buddy , favorite or in the group of select few or Family member.

There are others but doesn't matter about how often they say there is an open door policy your discussion falls on deaf ears.

    Pros

The money is great once you're making sales.

    Cons

They tell you to go out and sell to businesses, but they don't train you on how to do it. The successful people just do the same thing over and over and beat to death the same types of industries.

The meetings are cult-like with silly rituals.

    Advice to Management

This is New York! Stop the foolishness. Also, stop telling people that this is b2b. It's not. It's "sell to nurses and police".

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you work hard all the time you can make a lot of money.

    Cons

If you don't have a car you won't make it. My manager was enthusiastic about helping me. I was supposed to get 4 weeks of training with her but I only got one. She had hired a bunch of people and left me on my own with little guidance.

    Advice to Management

Take the proper time to train in the field instead of trying to get more people on your team.

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Set your own schedule work as much as you want or as little the bonuses help offset the terrible payout

    Cons

Sales Management is very unprofessional and needs a complete overhaul also no fuel
Reimbursement for meetings or sales appointments it's sad when you have to ask for simple things like that!

    Advice to Management

Tell agents that all we will be doing is door to door sales and canvassing and that the leads will just be people that either took out a policy or they lapsed. Also don't ask someone you are trying to sell a policy too to ask if they want to join the team at Combined and finally pay better than 45 percent

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved the people I worked with and had great benefits. Loved my office location.

    Cons

If you are not a high volume recruiter then this isn't the job for you. Anyone that is licensed WILL be hired, unless there is something negative in your background. I feel that new agents were "thrown against the wall to see who would stick", depending upon your manager and the state you were hired in would determine the amount of field training you would receive. No work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Build up your employees, tell them what they are doing right not always what they are doing wrong. My counter-parts always quick to build each other up, but NOT the management. This is what causes low morale.

    Pros

Paid training in Chicago is spectacular!
    Good products.
Positive Mental Attitude approach is kinda dumb but it works!

    Cons

Driving to the ends of the earth to reach assigned territory.
"Leads" is a binder of current customers and a list of businesses in the area.
No name recognition (no one has ever heard of Combined Insurance).
100% cold calling + 100% commission = Go work somewhere else

    Advice to Management

Enjoy living off your residual commissions because no new business is going to happen.
