    Pros

The money is great once you're making sales.

    Cons

They tell you to go out and sell to businesses, but they don't train you on how to do it. The successful people just do the same thing over and over and beat to death the same types of industries.

The meetings are cult-like with silly rituals.

    Advice to Management

This is New York! Stop the foolishness. Also, stop telling people that this is b2b. It's not. It's "sell to nurses and police".

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I started working for Combined Insurance in December and I must say this is the best opportunity I could find to build my career. I didn't come from an insurance industry background, and I was a little skeptical about changing my career path, but after I had an interview with HR and management to learn more about this company and career growth opportunity, I decided to take it to the next level. From that day on, I received all the training and support I needed to be successful, including one week training with all expenses paid in Chicago. In addition, the sales manager is constantly providing leads and on the field training & support to guarantee your financial success and growth within the company from day one, plus the company provides weekly bonus and other awesome incentives! You will have plenty of appointments and referrals if you follow the system. I like the flexible schedule with uncapped income potential. I highly recommend working for Combined Insurance, and I also share the company philosophy of success in three simple words: Positive Mental Attitude - PMA.

    Cons

Sometimes evenings and weekends appointments, but that's part of serving your clients by accommodating to their schedule.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good company. The corporate training in Chicago is all expense paid and very thorough. I like that the company promotes positive motivation. There is a base salary for six weeks that is helpful to allow you to build your business. Once in the field they assign mentors to go out with you.

    Cons

Your success depends not only on your own personal drive but the mentor that you work with. I liked my mentor personally but there was a lot going during my training weather and conferences so I didn't get as much field training as I needed. Also you will definitely run into the "we have Aflac" block quite a bit.

    Advice to Management

Extend the base salary period to really allow your agents to build business. Six weeks is not enough.

    Pros

Time flexibility, you make your own hours but really that's about it. You're your own boss.

    Cons

No salary, 100% commission, people fight each other for leads, the leads are not even leads to begin with they are just a re-print of the yellow pages and management makes you feel stupid and unappreciative if you decline the cold call....Everything else!

    *Commission rate is pretty decent
    *Flexible schedule

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You have a flexible schedule. They spend a lot on training.

    Cons

Constant pressure to sell more. Very hard to make any money. No protected territory so agents sell against each other. Constant ra ra, chanting & clapping weekly meetings.
If a customer cancels policy its charged back on you. Not uncommon to work a fifty hour week, drive door to door (100+ miles a day in your own vehicle) and bring home $300

    Advice to Management

Set up protected territories for productive agents to allow them to build a solid book of business.
