The pay is terrible for the work they require in homes.

      Pros

Get to meet a lot of truly wonderful elderly people and offer them compassion and companionship.

      Cons

they charge clients more than double what they pay you you end up in a position where you are mostly doing housework rather than elderly caregiving in most homes. It's just so sad that the care of our elderly is not more valued. A lack of scheduling people by zones, like sending them all the way across town when they live closer to other clients. The low pay attracts a lot of people who don't take their jobs as seriously as they should.

      Great clients, not enough training.

      Pros

You will likely get close with a few clients which really makes this worth it. It was really nice to have a flexible schedule and make my own hours.

      Cons

Low pay and not enough incentive for the amount of time and gas they have you travel for certain clients. Be prepared to have your phone go off ALL DAY LONG as they scramble to find fill-in shifts. Even though you can deny shifts, some of the schedulers will make you feel guilty about it. They do not give you enough background prior to assigning a shift which can put you in situations you were not prepared for. Their two day training is not enough to educate people about dealing with certain conditions. They say they don't work with anyone violent, and yet I was paired with someone who other caregivers said was violent on multiple occasions.
