I have been working at Comfort Systems USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've been with the company for several years now. The company has solid management, with particularly great new leadership in Service operations and IT. The company has shown a willingness to challenge the status quo as of late and the results are showing it. The CEO is top notch.

    Cons

Some my peers grumble at the new spirit of entrepreneurship and accountability, but I personally have found it more rewarding. It's a wake up call for some, but it is way better than what we had.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

Some of the top level managers are fantastic. Company is growing fast with acquisitions but very slow to make decisions with regard to technology.

    Cons

Archaic way of doing business. Leadership can be top notch, but stuck in a very old school methodology at the corporate level. IT management was particularly poor at the CTO level. Always had to watch your back.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible with change and adapt to current business culture/climate.

I worked at Comfort Systems USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some really nice people that work for the company. They create a pretty nice work/life balance. If you are a tech, you will do well here. If you are a sales rep, you will find conflict. They do a good job of training the employees and safety is a big concern.

    Cons

Sales people aren't treated with much respect. Management focuses more of their time and approval with the technicians. They do not value sales people and their contribution. Upper management are self serving. They are coy and don't give the support that is needed. The president of this current branch would rather watch his people drown then offer to help them be successful. I felt there were always some sort of games going on. You would be told one thing, but that would never be what was going on. Once the door was shut and you are out of the office, they would find pleasure in confusing and not helping their employees. The president is hard headed and needs to be right. Not a lot of collaboration can happen here.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing games and be direct and honest with your employees. Help them be successful! Don't let them fail because you think they should be able to read your mind in what you want. Don't wait for them to ask the questions, if you see an issue, work with them to resolve it. Don't be condescending. Don't create an upper management club and not let others in. Praise your employees for their efforts. Treat sales people with the respect they deserve. Be a mentor and help all of your people be successful.
