I have been working at CommScope (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Corporate-level behaviors are consistent with strongly reinforced core values of ethics and quality.
The C*O leaders have an excellent history of ethical and effective decisions, leading to an economically stable corporation.
Competitive bonus, salary and benefits for experienced engineering staff.
    Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Negative trajectory of cultural change - Executives' widespread choice of legacy TE BNS leaders over legacy CommScope leaders is leading to more political, command-and-control-style management and processes.

    Advice to Management

Seek feedback from employees. Correct acquisition-related engineering leadership and process issues as soon as possible before more good employees leave.

I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company has shown me that there are companies who treat their employees much better. At least it paid my bills, but other than that there aren't any pros anymore.

    Cons

The IT CIO has made decisions and hired managers that have made things unbearable at this company. Pay is lower at this company for positions within the IT field. They treat their good employees like garbage and reward the bad employees, which are like a cancer in the company and are multiplying.

    Advice to Management

Maybe treat your employees better and pay them what they should be making before you lose everyone talented at the company.

    Pros

Broad product solutions. Tip tier manufacturer. Global manufacturing for international customers. Global sales support. Full wired and wireless solutions. Fantastic company to grow until Carlyle take over.

    Cons

Unfocused sales strategy. Inability to align culture wars with acquisitions. Massive inefficiencies with sales structure. Inability for management to base strategy on street level realities. Loss of internal innovation replaced by acquisition.

    Advice to Management

Fix your culture wars before they become viral. Align product solutions through internal sales channels regardless of sandbox disruption.

I worked at CommScope (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has great scale and industry momentum by which to leverage. There are multiple functional support systems in place to help potentially pull from when addressing process or solution needs.

    Cons

The company is primarily focused on building economic value for its investors by acquiring businesses and cutting costs afterwards. The employees struggles to communicate cross functionally. There appears to be sense of groupthink in place undermining independent thinking and creativity to problem solving.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate the company culture, communications effectiveness across vertical functional areas and assess leadership skills to ensure accountability, independent thinking and a focus on customer problem solving is emphasized over internal political protectionism.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of people want to see change.
Co-workers for the most part are nice.

    Cons

Very set in their ways despite it being trickled down from the top that the company needs to change. "Old" workforce - a large number of people are baby boomers and have either retired within the last year or will be retiring in the next 1-2 years. They prefer internal promotions over external hiring, even if it means the person isn't the most qualified. Benefits are terribly expensive, plus to get the discount you have to be a member of Humana Vitality and reach a certain level. I pay for just myself what a friend pays for herself and her children. Everyone knows everyone kind of mentality so watch what you share since certain people will spread it around like wildfire. HR is joke except for the people in charge of the performance models. Pay is hardly competitive.

    Advice to Management

Bring in people who actually know what they're doing. You're a telecommunications company - get a telecommuting policy in place instead of "frowning upon it". Get some younger people through the doors. Consider relocating offices to attract more people. Promote a more flexible work schedule. This place needs to change or it's going to find itself without anyone to work here except the people that have been here 10+ years already. (The ones who are too afraid of change).

I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some very good professionals, devoted to the company and products portfolio. People really makes the company succes, in spite of upper management.

    Cons

VP's and Above have no clue on what happens on day to day company reality. Budgets are understated and saving plans are overstated.
Normal Advice: "we plan for something, but later we just do it in another way"

some stone age products. new products by acquisitions

    Advice to Management

Carlyle should rebuild the entire structure from top to bottom

I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good location, good pay, good benefits

    Cons

Poor working conditions in factory & office (temperature, noise level, dirt)
Great place to work if all you ever get rewarded with is getting to wear jeans because some sports team won the night before. And, if you're a wedding planner in training - this is the place to be. More event planning goes on here than actual work. Or if you're a Director, take a 2 hour lunch, THEN go work out upstairs for another hour, and walk past all the people who have to punch a time clock that get 30 minutes for lunch.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to what is (or isn't) going on.
