I have been working at Commissionaires part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They're just professional in all areas! They serve the clientele courteously and fairly.Lots of work related benefits like dental care and medical.

    Cons

Some people are abusive but one learns to deal with them professionally and there's always a chance that some days are at least twelve hours long.

    Advice to Management

    Institute regular refresher courses!

I have been working at Commissionaires part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Percentage wise they pay their guards more per site because they are a non-profit organization. I also enjoy my job and the people i work with but that varies by site.

    Cons

Shifts are far and few between if you're not permanently placed somewhere and the ones you do get are low paying. The quality sites are hard to get because people rarely leave them!

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and work towards optimizing the money you're spending so that you can give more to your employees over longer periods of time.

    Pros

Professional uniform when worn properly and good Federal accounts that are all but guaranteed to them.

    Cons

Management are dinosaurs waaay behind the times and almost exclusively ex Navy (there are other branches of the military, you know). Management practices follow ISO only in theory, are an "old boys club" and are sooo far behind the times its embarassing. They are not up to date with current security practices or technology and is a leading cause why they have lost many major accounts over the past few years. When they lose their right of first refusal, and that's coming, the company is done. A predominantly ancient workforce, no raises for YEARS, no benefits, and almist no affiliation with security technology.....writing is on the wall, people.

    Advice to Management

Get current, actually follow ISO, hire a LOT of people under 60, and for God's sake stop hiring your buddies for all of the Div positions, they are not often the right choice.

    Easy to obtain employment.
Free Uniforms and plenty of uniform parts.
    Steady employment possible.
Good training opportunities are possible if you are lucky.

    Cons

They no longer strictly employ Military Veterans.
The Commissionaires are no different than any other security company.
Very top heavy company with a Headquarters and administrative staff that is at least twice as big as is needed.

    Advice to Management

    Cut HQ staff in half

I have been working at Commissionaires part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to know the airport real well and that helps you in the future. You also get experience and can apply for a different job in the airport.

    Cons

In winter, you have to stand in the cold and there is nothing that you can do about it. The job sometimes can be a lot to handle with people yelling at you and all that alongside to impress the boss.

Lots of time off, you work 4 days on and 4 days off, they have no problem with you requesting time off

    Cons

sexism, sexual harassment, bullying goes on a lot in the commissionaires, They do not treat women good, they favor the ex military guys who are 65 plus so there is no equality they are losing a lot of contracts, probably because of the old guys sleeping on the job Never met so many lazy people in my life

    Advice to Management

Never see them, they are never around, not sure what they do
