I have been working at Commonwealth-Altadis full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great company, benefits are slowly declining. Unfortunately there just aren't many pro's as the work environment is toxic. Sorry folks, I believe there are no pro's anymore.

    Cons

A few of the Supervisors and managers at the Reidsville facility are bullies and harassing their employees. Sad part is the HR team sees it and even acknowledges it, but simply allows it. Not a good work environment anymore. As a result, socially and emotionally it's a very unsafe place anymore. Lots of backstabbing since the merger. Is progressively becoming worse and more evident each day. Stay away from this place!

    Advice to Management

Put an end to the backstabbing, cut-throat games that are currently happening. It's simply a horrible, horrible place to work anymore. The last few years the reviews and employee survey has mentioned that no one would recommend this place to a friend nor trust the management ... here's the reason why. Now fix it.

    I worked at Commonwealth-Altadis full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It amazes me how Imperial Tobacco Group's management still have jobs. Every company they touch, within a matter of a couple of years, loses significant market share.

Altadis and Commonwealth were both great companies before ITG took over. Then it was downhill on every front.

As others have mentioned already, the Brits hate Americans and replace any in positions of power whenever possible with one of their own. They actually had the audacity to put people in charge who have never even been to the US, and expected them to do a better job than the incumbent management teams.

Great company to work for if you're an expat from the UK.

    Cons

    Poor leadership
    Big egos
    No stability
Unfair treatment of employees unless your british

    Advice to Management

    Jump off a cliff

I worked at Commonwealth-Altadis (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are okay. Some of my coworkers were pleasant to be around.

    Cons

Very bad leadership. The company just merged with Lorillard in 2015. The company put Lorillard's executives in charge, which is now just as bad as the former leadership. The company only favor's Lorillard employees, giving them all the promotions and opportunities. The new company ITG Brands is one to stay far away from. They started out the new company with 10% share of market and in less than 1 year have dropped it down to 7%.

    Advice to Management

    Resign. You have no clue.

    Pros

The opportunity to deal with great customers. Never the same outcome day to day. Able to provide customer satisfaction.

    Cons

Never able to give consistent value and / or ROI to customers. Product lines where initially sold in, but bcause company never focused on wholesale relationship building such as stocking products at Sam's Club, customers were "never" able to restock product that Territory Manager originally sold in.

    Advice to Management

Management get your head out of the clouds. The setting of unrealistic goals, the stopping of quarterly goals mid-stream and issuing no goals with only 6 weeks left in the sales cycle, not making your product lines readily available at the wholesaler is truly evidence that being based in the United Kingdom you haven't a clue of how business should be run in the United States. Truly a shame - for your Territory Managers are truly Senior Sales Professionals. Wake up and smell the roses idiots.

    I worked at Commonwealth-Altadis full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits including company vehicle, 401K matching

    Cons

Sales targets presented, but no backup from company in terms of promotions. Sales goals not set until halfway through promotion period. Constantly changing objectives. No support from upper management. New brand intros had goals, but company could not produce product to supply sales, which affected bonus pay.

    Advice to Management

Get out into the field to "see" what is going on. Listen to those in the field. Don't expect different results doing the same program over and over and over...

I have been working at Commonwealth-Altadis full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Like most companies, individual satisfaction was greatly dependent on your immediate managers and coworkers. In my case, those were great, so I really loved my job. Unfortunately, all the great things we were trying to achieve were a fairy tale spun by top level management.

    Cons

Everything that came out of Kevin's mouth since day 1 was a lie or misrepresentation to keep the troops engaged in achieving his/ITG's true objective - getting FTC approval for ITG's part in the RJR/LOR acquisition.

    Advice to Management

TOO LATE....Alison Cooper decided that Mad Men had it right and gave all the power, positions and decision making to people who time traveled from the 1950's....good luck with that....the 21st century knowledge and technology will miss you!
