I worked at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is work that inspires you. A place where you know the work being done by the incredible scientists and support staff make a tangible difference to the world around us. There are so many different aspects of the organisation, that there is bound to be a role that inspires you. Everyone I met, had the best intentions and honestly believed in the work the CSIRO did.

    Cons

The CSIRO is going through a difficult transition, which means lots of changes. Being a government entity also has its own set of challenges. Externally, no one knows about the CSIRO and that can prove to be a challenge when so many people want to work for Google or Apple.

    Advice to Management

Good luck, Australia needs you to get this transition right.

I worked at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation

    Pros

Well respected name, really interesting material and really smart people to work with.

    Cons

A couple of managers lacked vision and understanding and consequently respect of the professionals in their field.

    Advice to Management

Pick your priorities and stand by them. Stop bowing to the squeaky wheel.
