"Awesome, fun place to work. Great conditions. Salary a bit low if you're a high-achiever."

Former Employee - Team Leader in Sydney

I worked at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Variety in work, relaxed work-place, great working conditions.

    Cons

Salary isn't competitive if you're a high achiever, particularly for engineering disciplines. Promotion and opportunities flatten out and slow-down considerably as you reach CSOF6. Salary is set nation-wide - disadvantage if you're in Sydney or Melbourne (higher living costs). Great for cheap cities (Hobart, Darwin).

    Advice to Management

Pay your engineers more, you're losing the best to other companies. You'll be left with those who are comfortable doing the basic requirements, and those hanging on for retirement.

I have been working at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation

    Pros

Dedication of the staff, and the wide ranging expertise from astronomy to renewable energy, to climate change and building lighter motor cars.

    Cons

No real ones. A little more money would be great, but the salary is compensated by the knowledge that you are contributing to the greater good within the organisation and in Australia

    Advice to Management

Well done! Its a pleasure to come to work each day.
