    Pros

    Insurance, family environment, teamwork, overtime = Bonus Bucks! Helping patients and their family members

    Cons

    The national shortage of medics and basics makes for short staffing and hold overs ( but bonus bucks + over time= $$).

    Advice to Management

    Thank you goes along way. Communication is key. Hire more Human Resource people.

    Lots of OT available. Great rescue contracts for Paramedics.

    Cons

    Multiple holdovers, medical insurance skyrocket. Basics will run from start to end of shift.

    I worked at Community EMS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good as a first EMS job to get some experience and feet wet doing 911 rescue, transport and some critical care transport

    Cons

    No programs to retain seasoned paramedics. All you will do is work on an ambulance and run calls. No critical care program, no room to advance into management or education rolls.

    Advice to Management

    Expand operations into allowing employees to reach there full potential in order to retain. New up to daye equipment goes a long way not monitors from the 1990's and constant truck failure while responding to calls

    I have been working at Community EMS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Free uniforms... if they actually get them to you. 911 contracts are nice. No need to schedule overtime, you WILL be held over every day you work.

    Cons

    They will allow someone to work there for years after they need to be fired. This causes morale issues that the company doesn't address. A person that 90% of the company refuses to work with IS THE PROBLEM PERSON and needs to be addressed.
    The insurance just jumped up 24% Yay.
    Supervisors never leave the office. This could also be a good thing. I would hate to see what they can do to us if they left their comfort zone.

    Advice to Management

    Fire those that need to be fired. Keeping them will just make everyone want to leave sooner. Focus less on recruitment and more on retention.

    Pros

    The pay is slightly higher than most private EMS. The insurance benefits are not the best. But def not the worst.

    Cons

    Constantly understaffed on daily deployments... either hire more people or buy new trucks. They do not go by their own policy in most instances , prime example is favoritism .... roads crews are treated like crap and ran into the ground daily, w the exception of their favorites.... which are never held over. The owner is out of touch w his sups and or they are misinforming him of how the company is being run! Moral is at an all time low!!!!

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees and actually do something to help their needs! Stop w the favoritism already... you are supposed to be a professional , act like it.
     Being held over is part of the job, by not every single day, and it really does not sit well when you ear the same crew being cleared in on time every single day, even on mandatory hold overs!
     But my best advise would be for them to go out and recruit the beat manicipality dispatchers and call takers... the ones you have now, either do not care, do not know what they are doing and play favorites w their road crew friends or the ones who kiss their you know what! This company could be the countries best private EMS around, if we had competent dispatchers!!!!

    Pros

    Stability, opportunities for advancement beyond a clinician, good benefit package, quality driven, rescue contracts, great co-workers who are very knowledgeable in their profession, incentives for high performers

    Cons

    High call volume- busy! This sometimes results in mandatory hold-overs

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work with retention and recruiting. I love the videos we're posting on You-Tube and FB pages. It's nice to see recognition

    I have been working at Community EMS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great rescue contracts, endless overtime, good co workers.

    Cons

    Understaffed on the ALS and BLS. If you work an ALS rescue car be ready to barley see quarters or be lucky to sit post for five minutes. BLS side get ready to run non stop calls.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on retaining employees. Its great to hire new employees however it does not do a lot of good when you have a revolving door. Due to low staffing, low wages and constant holdovers.
