I worked at Community Health Systems as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Met some wonderful people. Learned quite a bit, which is both good and bad.

    Cons

Benefits are a joke being a Healthcare company. Big executives give themselves more money as they lay off thousands and close hospitals. They don't supply hospitals with right supplies. Everything is about what they can make in their pockets while little people get nothing. Ceos and officers get huge bonuses and perks, typical of a for profit that cares nothing for anyone else, unless you become a robot. They will lie to stab you in the back unless they become your life.

    Advice to Management

Be truthful, treat the real people right, especially hospitals with supplies and pay them equally.

I worked at Community Health Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay. Better than other companies in the area

    Cons

Keep condition of company 'quiet' and not honest with employees. They say they are in financial crisis and give AAs 0.25/hour raise YET the VPs still get bonuses?? How is that fair??

    Advice to Management

Laid off out of the blue last week but it's 'not personal, strictly business'. I've never had anything negative yet others who have been with the company in my department shorter than me and have triple absenses than we are allowed still have a job??? So how are layoffs done?? Company continuously assured us our jobs are safe and then layoffs of over 200 people done last week??? Be honest with your employees. And 4 week severance after 5 years is horrible.

Medical benefits are not the best, considering this is a medical company that owns so many hospitals, you would think there was a better program.

    Pros

Job security. Small company/family feel. Strong benefits.

    Cons

Senior management can be unprofessional and incentive to support staff. Lack of promotional opportunity and even when you do they have a 8% raise cap....very disappointing.
