I have been working at Community Services Group, Inc. (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly work environment
Plenty of room to move up (and is helpful in assisting you to get where you want to be)
    Supervisors are helpful
Essentially I am actually happy to get up for work for once in my life
They walk you through what you need to do, and if you forget, they will remind you without issue

    Cons

    No pay increase
PRNs get 0 benefits even if they consistently work
The budget has gotten in my way many times. There used to be 4 FT positions at my program and now there is only 3. We have no room in our budget to have a PT position, but I have consistent hours as a PRN. So I get the pay, but no benefits which can be disappointing.

    Advice to Management

I can't say I have much advice. I'm not sure how the budgets are worked, but I know more people would apply if programs had more variety of FT, PT, or PRN. I will say that management should always speak with their employees and be open to feedback. My supervisors consistently explain things to me. They assist me in understanding why certain things cannot be done, etc.

I have been working at Community Services Group, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are awesome and working with individuals. The benefits are good

    Cons

So unorganized and communication is awful but better than recent past. Low pay but not terrible for human services. Not enough staff so stretched to the limit and it feels like middle management is not allowed to question the decisions that have been made. You must go along with what has been decided or you are perceived as negative.

I worked at Community Services Group, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The job is rewarding many ways, but that all revolves around working with the clients, and consumers. Life experience is one of the greatest benefits.

    Cons

It is all about the money....unlike some companies, CSG is for profit, and they always look at the bottom line first, staff or client be damned.
I worked as a DSP, and in two levels of management. You always have to watch your back, from those above you. They will lie and blame you for their mistakes. I worked with an individual who ran out of meds, and the APD was supposed to have ordered them and did not....She got another staff member fired blaming them.....She asked me if needed, did I have her back, she wanted me to lie for her.....
Upper management has no clue as to what goes on, if the state ever paid an unannounced visit, a lot of the group homes would be shuttered that very day.......
Pay is poor, benefits, OK......you can get better insurance off Obamacare......they force you to work OT...if you don't when you want time off, they will do little to find coverage for you, and not allow someone you found to work your hours to do so....The middle management runs on pettiness, revenge, and greed

    Advice to Management

Hold regional meetings with just DSP's they know what is going on. They will not speak up in front of supervisors. So if someone has something they want to say, but is scared, meet with them in private......

I worked at Community Services Group, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

The consumers are wonderful to work for, but you need dedication and empathy to be able to do so. The pay was not as much as some companies, but not as low as others.

    Cons

Administration does not train well and does not communicate effectively.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and provide better training and help covering shifts.

I have been working at Community Services Group, Inc. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed work environment in some home, plenty of overtime

    Cons

Some homes (Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street PA) is very difficult and the company has little compensation for the staff there. The hardest home in the Central PA area and gets paid the same as other homes with more relaxed conditions. Sleep over positions are poorly paid.

    Advice to Management

Pay the employees at homes that are Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) with better wages, as these homes are very difficult. Most homes would be better than these.
