I worked at Community of Hope full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved my time with Community of Hope. During my time with the organization, I had a supportive supervisor who provided me with several opportunities for growth and professional development. I was able to contribute positively to our department and the organization in many ways. I worked as a recruiter for a majority of my time with COH and I loved being able to help bring in top talent to the various departments.

    Cons

It was stressful at times, but the challenges made me stronger professionally.

I worked at Community of Hope full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    They have a solid culture

    Cons

Many young people/graduates are attracted to the tuition reimbursement claim. They are purposefully vague because you are only eligible for that after being there for a year IF they have the budget for it and it has to get approved by the board. The most you can get is $1,000 a year. Never heard of anyone actually getting it. They can’t recruit people so they try to entice people without giving them details on what they will really be doing.

    Advice to Management

Too many inexperienced managers with poor soft skills

I worked at Community of Hope full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Provides help and support in the community

    Cons

Management is controlling, mulipitive, and micromanaging

    Advice to Management

Micromanaging will never help you achieve the goals the organization strives to achieve and using HR to bully employees is unexceptable and controlling. Managers control workflows and processess not people.

I have been working at Community of Hope full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice building
Nice feeling of helping the unfortunate
    Great co-workers
    Cleanliness of building
    Respectfulness
    Ability to grow
    Ability to learn

    Cons

Terrible communications between upper management and admin team.
There’s no set way to do things as things constantly change on every week.
Too many back and forth issues from different parts of admin team.
    Pettiness all the way around.

    Advice to Management

Find a set protocol and keep it. Changing the protocol every week causes stress and inefficiency for the admin team.

I have been working at Community of Hope full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Community of Hope is an organization that shows employees appreciation , and support throughout the year. Supervisors are offered many trainings to ensure that they are receiving all the tools needed to motivate our employees, while improving our professional development. This organization encourages self care, and a happy life work balance, and upper management is very transparent. Working for Community of Hope provides great services undeserved community and being apart of such a wonderful organization brings even more purpose to my life.

    Cons

The evaluation process is tedious, and you can only carry over 40 hours of vacation from year to year.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide support for COH employees.

I have been working at Community of Hope full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Community of Hope is truly a great place to work due to the welcoming culture and the team of people we work with. I feel a connection to the mission in my work and I've really enjoyed my time working at COH. I've had the opportunity to grow with COH and I've witnessed several others who have as well. COH has been named a Washington Post Top Workplace for a few years now and I think it's due to these reasons and many more!

    Cons

I don't have any to share.
