    I worked at Commvault full-time

    Pros

Great product! It works and customers generally love it.
    Mostly enthusiastic, hard-working employees.
    Company respects work-life balance.
    Good benefits.
Interesting place and industry to work in.
    Plenty of ongoing training.
Some managers create great environments to work in...seems to be locale-dependent.

    Cons

    Constant turnover in Sales people.
Total Pay has not increased in 5+ years.
Sales incentive structure and territories change dramatically annually.
There is no flexibility in processes...and the red tape is multiplying.
Salesforce is a great tool but CV has made it overly burdensome.
When customers have issues, the priorities are: #1 Make sure you don't give away anything. #2 Make the customer happy.
    Accounting micromanages Sales.

    Advice to Management

Make it easy for customers to buy...eliminate some of the red tape related to purchasing, and simplify licensing.
Be more flexible in resolving customer issues...focus on the long term.
Act like you care when good Sales employees are leaving...assess what it really costs to hire a new person, and do what it takes to make them stay, if at all possible.

    Pros

    Good product. Solid customer service.

    Cons

Company's attempts to reinvent itself is causing significant dislocation among employees and customers.
Sales churn is level is terrible. Influx of Oracle staff that don't understand the IT/cloud industry is distractive.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring sales people from Oracle. Sell company to Microsoft.

I have been working at Commvault full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High energy environment, great pay scale for those who look to over-achieve. Mid-level management gets lots of responsibility to keep the ship steering in the right direction, many smart people to work and collaborate with.

    Cons

Annual re-org and constantly shifting quarterly priorities creates a lot of unnecessary stress and confusion at all levels of the organization. Chaotic strategic direction seems to be based on latest book read by senior management or fear of shareholder takeover, or both.

    Advice to Management

Fear based management leaks down to the greater organization. Replace old crony board of directors and bring in a board that demands a rational strategic direction

    Pros

Quarterly updates by the CEO onsite at NJ Headquarters location, matching 401k plan, and great benefits and PTO. There are also holiday events that sometimes cut into work hours. On-site cafeteria has pretty good options and prices. HR does a good job of listening to employee feedback. CEO is friendly and is actually seen in the office.

    Cons

Very large company, so it can feel like you are not making a big difference in the overall company.
