    Cons

Lack of aggressive strategy to gain market. Very poor marketing. A very naïf approach to the business.

    Advice to Management

Too many people taking business decisions without any customer experience

    Pros

CommVault has matured into a stable company with a strong work/life balance. The technology platform is best in the industry, especially around enterprise backups. Benefits are respectable, and the corporate atmosphere in NJ is positive.

    Cons

The company continuously struggles with how to evolve past being a backup play. They consistently create features for others markets but fall short either on the product or execution side of the equation.

    Advice to Management

Reduce your scope. If you want to attack another market do it with 100% investment. Don't dabble in 5 other markets and never bring them to fruition.

    Pros

Excellent management, decent salary, good benefits, great overall work place atmosphere. Would recommend this employer to others. Great job managers

    Cons

Hard interview process, clocking in and out even if salary and horrible parking unless you get there an hour before your shift you are walking a mile.

    Advice to Management

Move to a new location to allow for more expansion of parking and employment. Otherwise everything is great by management. Never any complaints here.

    Cons

    Still expieriencing some growing pains

    Advice to Management

    There's a top-down motion from Marketing. One-size doesn't fit all

    I worked at Commvault full-time

    Pros

    1) Good work life balance. WFH & PTO policies are good. Maternity leave policy is excellent.
    2) Ample parking space! I spent a few minutes trying to find another positive but just can't see one.

    Cons

    1) For a tech company, the level of innovation is very low. Majority of senior employees have been here for nearly a decade(or more) and are stuck in the technology stack the started with. Tech leads and engineering managers look at you with suspicion when you try to innovate.

    2) There is a very heavy top-down approach. Managers believe in command and execute mode. Engineering head has right ideas but is surrounded by head nodders.

    3) Poor software development process. Stuck in late 90s early 2000s. Hope they realize soon that doing the same (wrong) thing and expecting different result is just plain insanity.

    Advice to Management

The only way you are getting out of current slump is by innovating. Letting go a few underperformers is unfortunate but not a bad idea. There is some bit of lethargy and dead weight. Need a cultural shift. Stop hiring within your circle. Need people who have different background and perspective.

Hopefully, you'll be able to turn things around soon. All the best to my good friends back in Commvault!

I worked at Commvault full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary, good benefits and a great office.

    Cons

Worked as software engineer for 2 years.
The work would really depend on the team you are hired into. Some times go great work while other teams not so much.
There are lot of components which are developed by different teams. There is absolutely no coordination among teams which leads lot of missed deadlines and blame games.
The management in engineering is especially horrendous. There is absolutely no planning and when they are questioned on it, they fall back to "we are like a startup " line which is funny since they are a big enterprise company.
And a bad location to have a company. It far off from everything and only way you can commute is by a car.

    Advice to Management

Good engineers do not necessarily make good managers. When a engineer is promoted to a manger, make sure they are given proper training.

I have been working at Commvault full-time

    Pros

They have a great software suite and customers like it a lot. It's easy to win deals technically because of the superior features/functionality.

    Cons

Low percentage of sales reps meet quota due to incredibly high targets. Large metro areas have too many reps. Being able to only sell one product means you have to wait around for accounts to swap out Backup; which happens far too rarely.

    Advice to Management

Be visible to your sales teams and capitalize on their talents with appropriately sized targets.

I have been working at Commvault full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Technology is strong in the market, full complement of data/information solutions.

    Cons

Constant change in organization and the new Oracle people are not adding any net new value but rather pining the original sales people against them. Good ole boy network is being pulled in and they don't know the space but they think they do.

    Advice to Management

Think about the people who have invested in building the customers and taking care of them. The SVP WW Sales needs to be shown the door. Change is good so the CEO needs to make a change their as well.
