I have been working at Compass Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company will give you the entry level experience you're looking for...

    Cons

No Vision Insurance. Low pay. Getting a raise won't bump a yearly salary much. No vacation until after the first year of employment. Brand awareness is almost non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Be a team player. That means with all departments and teams... not just your own.

I have been working at Compass Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only good thing left of the company are the crews. It's the only reason I decided to stick around until getting a mainline position. They are an amazing group of people you can trust to have your back.

    Cons

Management. They are operating this airline with minimum resources, so everything is lacking. Planes aren't well-maintained, almost no reserves, not enough CRM between management and crews. The pay system isn't accurate, frequently shorting us hours. They consistently avoid the topic of our contracts with our mainline partners (set to end soon).

    Advice to Management

Nothing anyone lists here will change management's decisions. Tensions are high, morale is low, and the mass exodus has begun. It's sad to see a company with such amazing workers flop because of poor management.

I worked at Compass Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only reason to be here is the crews are absolutely amazing with the exception of some of the more senior ‘Mini Mama’s’ and some very pretentious crew members.

    Cons

Where should I begin, management is abhorrent; there is a complete lack of communication between management and crews, should you have management reach out to you, begin looking for a new job, chances are they’re looking to let you go. Maintenance is the next issue, these aircraft are overworked and under-maintained. I’ve been a Flight Attendant for many years and i’ve Never been uncomfortable working on a plane until Compass. So many items are deferred and the cabins look horrible with seat backs roped upright and armrests removed; and then to announce cabin audits where your flight attendants will be judged for the look of the cabin. . . Please.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately I don’t think at this point there is anything you can do, this company is on the way out. It’s evident in everyday operations. Crew member are fleeing and you can’t keep operations staff to manage day to day operations.

For the time being make people comfortable. Stop lying to them and value them for the amazing jobs they do, especially given the extreme lack of support you provide.

I have been working at Compass Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Unionized
    Good crews
    Management is pretty reasonable
Reserve period is short compared to larger airlines

    Cons

    Pay isn’t great
Scare tactics prior to probationary period ending
Scheduling not very versed with union contract

    Pros

brand new hire, but so far been very happy with recruiting and training staff & process. very straight forward and clear, designed to help you succeed.

    Cons

pay isn’t necessarilya livable wage when only guaranteed 75 hours/month on reserve but not out of line with other regional airlines. so it’s a standard that has to be acceptable to you for the trade off of various perks and benefits if this is a job you want.

I worked at Compass Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flight benefits. You just have to pay taxes when you fly somewhere.

    Cons

You do not get to choose where you will work. They tell you AFTER you begin training.

After you're hired you have 200 hours of training but you only get paid for 100 of them. (And yes, it's legal for them to do this since it's classified as "training" and not actual work.)

When you use your free travel, you don't actually get a seat on the plane. You have to hope there is empty seats on the flight you want to get on and hope no one shows up and takes it or actually purchases one. Even if you book a flight to Europe a month in advance, you might not get it.

Incompetent staff. No one really knows what they're doing. It's the airline industry so all the flights are late and you get stranded a lot.

    Advice to Management

Value your workers the way you want them to value your airline. It will categorically improve your business.

I worked at Compass Airlines (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hiring process is pretty seamless and they really do want all new hires to make it through the training and graduate. Immediate staff is supportive and well trained.

    Cons

. Planes are often delayed or have mechanical problems, which leads to wasted hours waiting without pay. Attention...You are just a number! “Oh you broke your leg on the way in? Did you find a replacement?” Also, while I was sure to follow guidelines, many did not and were not reprimanded. Including falling asleep in the galley, uniform issues Etc.
