I have been working at Compass Group USA full-time

    Pros

Generous salaries, PTO, insurance plans, and 401k match. Location is very good in relatively low traffic area. Very nice accommodations throughout both buildings with constant updates.

    Cons

Worst work atmosphere I've ever experienced, I can only speak for my department as I hear good things about other floors. A completely silent work environment with virtually no human interaction. An 8 hour day feels like an enternity.

    Advice to Management

Come out of the glass cubicles and create an engaging work place. Take definitive action against employees who deliberately sabotage the work of others.

    Pros

No one watches over your shoulder to make sure you get the job done. Complete autonomy.

    Cons

    everyone works in silos.
    no concept of team work.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the dedicated workers. We are more than just a number. Suggestions for improvement are ignored and HR at the local levels are an embarrassment.

I worked at Compass Group USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good company to work for depending on the department. FoodBuy and Human Resources are two good areas that I recommend.

    Cons

Corp Payroll department needs some work. Leadership is lacking vision and there is no upward mobility. Management team is very passive aggressive. No one says what the really want to say and they always keep you guessing. There is also a lot of favoritism shown by management to certain individuals. Process and procedures are out dated.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to evaluate what your teams really need. Engage in team building activities and leadership course to improve management. Let go of some of the management staff that aren't progressing the department.

    Pros

Free meals, opportunity to travel if you're good at what you do.

    Cons

Upper management looks the other way when there are internal problems. If you are hourly, you actually get more assistance and respect from HR than salary positions. Long hours are expected. No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Be sure the people you "promote" to high level positions have the knowledge an people skills to do the job.
