I have been working at Compass Group USA full-time

    Pros

Working in Higher Ed allows you to follow an academic schedule with paid holidays. The perks of free lunches during the day and most weekends off allows for a great work/balance lifestyle.

    Cons

It is a world-wide corporation with several different branches. The corporate politics can be very difficult to accept sometimes.

  2. "Catering Associate"

    Pros

All of the employees understand the importance of the work they do in food service. In the hospital setting, taking the meal orders of the patients and spending a few minutes with them and their families is very rewarding.

    Cons

The supervisors expect you to do your paperwork standing up. In the course of a 12 hour workday, we were able to sit down for the 2 - 30 minute meal breaks and 3 (if time permitted) 15 minute breaks.

    Advice to Management

If employees were allowed to sit down more throughout the day, you'd be able to hire people who would stay longer than a month.

Managers are antagonist. They come into work miserable and harass the good workers.

    Advice to Management

The employees don't create your problems. Don't take it out on them just because your at higher authority.

    Pros

The People. There so many great people who work hard and focus on the customer. The company invests in me with training and certification programs.

    Cons

It's a big company that is hard to understand everything but I guess that is what makes it so great too.

    Advice to Management

    Keep investing in the people.

    Pros

If you have a good manager you may enjoy work life balance. The company is so large you can grow within your career, can move around globally.

    Cons

As always, as most companies, always cutting back on everything and can get overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

Institute true talent management program to grow your people. Also, you could do better with diversity in mid tier and higher level management. Heavily male dominated.
