I have been working at Compass Knowledge as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you have the skills, this does not require heavy lifting. On occasion, it's informative and interesting.

    Cons

The nature of the work is not consistant. It ebbs and flows with the demands of the various schools posting online courses. And, as a contractor, I have no real communication with the course developers. I have lots to offer by way of years of editorial experience, but I get the sense there is little desire to really tackle the details.

    Advice to Management

As a full-time, in-house QA specialist, I could form relationships with the developers and communicate the need to be exact in the details. Applying Associated Press style to the courses, rather than the un-observed academic styles would create a far more user-friendly course environment.

    Pros

Work environment is relaxed and full of smart people
Company respects their employees and treats them well

    Cons

Work can be extremely repetetive depending on work load
    Tasks are generally not challeging
There is little space for individuals to be creative or innovative since there is a prescribed method for most tasks and few avenues for ideas to be shared and inacted

    Advice to Management

You should learn to better utilize your workforce. There seems to be a high percentage of employees with advanced degrees but the majority of the tasks require, at most, a bachelors degree. Compass learn to capitalize on the talented people that it employees.
