I worked at Computer Merchant as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is a great way to get yourself into a company and get some work experience.

    Cons

The company does not provide affordable benefits. The cost of the medical/dental is so high that you cannot afford it on the pay you get. They also do not provide paid time off, sick leave or any other paid day off.

    Advice to Management

Offer more benefits to the employs and follow through with any promises made to them. Do not provide them with excuses only answers.

I have been working at Computer Merchant as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fairly involved and invested in the interview process. Very personable and understanding of personal issues.

    Cons

It seems as if at times there are not clear on the role that they are placing you in. Very high benefits contribution.

    Advice to Management

It may be a good idea to add vacation time to your benefits package so employees don't burn out.

    Pros

I.T. job diversity is very good at Computer Merchant. They usually have quite a few good job selections all across the U.S.; so if you want to work in a particualr location for awhile, they can help with that opportunity.

    Cons

Little management action on accounts. Most people are left to fend for themselves when on location. If issues do arise, some PM's and above just skate the issues and won't intercede on the contractors behalf to help alleviate any areas of concern. Some just want you to do the job being asked with no questions involved.

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive with all your contractors out in the field - they are your life blood and paycheck. Let them sink and you will too.

    Pros

OK company to work for; they are local to me so I actually got to meet with a person face to face; recruiters are definitely approachable; no phone calls from people in some far away city.

    Cons

The pay rates were on the low side. That was really my only complaint. I don't know much about the corp culture because I was a contractor for them. I did not workin their office.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your contractors better.
