I worked at Computer Merchant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great chance to gain experience in the staffing industry under good management. Nice traditional work environment in a beautiful building. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Commission structure could be better, but the volume of deals most producers get allows for a good overall compensation. Long hours and PTO is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Continue investing in more training. Need to work on professionalism in the relationship between and value placed on recruiters vs account executives.

I worked at Computer Merchant as a contractor

    Pros

Worked for a large company that hired contractors through TCM so they didn't have to deal with benefits or full-time employees. I had minimal interaction with TCM. They provided me with access to benefits (at astronomical cost but there was no Obamacare so I was grateful!) and never screwed up with payroll. I was pleased to have the job. When I left the job, they reached out periodically with email blasts which was nice.

    Cons

Just an anonymous company managing payroll and benefits. I didn't have a relationship with anyone there.

I worked at Computer Merchant as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very professional and friendly. Their recruiters keep you up to date on the position you applied for. Unfortunately I had to leave within a month due to a family emergency.

    Cons

No actual cons I could think of, but since it's required. We couldn't do in-person interviews, but that was due to us being in different states.

I have been working at Computer Merchant full-time

    Pros

Some people will tell you that quitting your job and doing what you love is the answer for all of life’s problems. It’s the cure for what’s ailing the stressed out, overworked, and underengaged human. The truth is obvious: quitting your job will definitely not solve all of your problems, working at The Computer Merchant will...

    Cons

Due to your overwhelming schedule, I've had to sacrifice old habits like healthy eating, recreational sports, and working out. The other day I looked down and realized that I was the size of a mid-level commercial airliner.

    Advice to Management

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

    Pros

They stayed out of my hair and let me do the job

I have been working at Computer Merchant as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

As a contractor your destiny is pretty much in your own hands. TCML provides support for attaining that elusive raise and career counseling for getting it.

    Cons

When it comes to actually asking for that raise it is in their hands which removes you from the negotiation. You must trust them to act in your best interest. This can be difficult and unnerving.

    Advice to Management

Expand website for employees to download pay stubs, W-2's and other important documetation. Provide guidelines for chan ging roles and managing your own contract.

I have been working at Computer Merchant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Limitless opportunities to pursue new business, to share ideas and actually implement them. I'm free to run my desk as I would my own business and I love that freedom. Uncapped earning potential! Since I've joined I been supported 100% internally and it really feels like everyone wants to see you succeed (and doesn't just say it).

    Cons

Technology can be a little intimidating at first and I wish there was something in place to make me feel a little more comfortable with industry terminology but, in all honesty, it wasn't difficult to learn on my own.
