I worked at Computer People full-time

    Pros

The staff are friendly and look to help each other. There are good incentives for overachieving or becoming top biller. Good database and ability to reach the active markets. An excellent company to start your recruitment career.

    Cons

The drive to hit KPI's despite billing figures can detract from the way you run your business. Gaining access to further training can be difficult at times.

    Advice to Management

Allow each member of staff to take full ownership of their desk if targets are being met and step in if targets are not being met/ beaten.

    Pros

Will teach you the basics of sales, recruitment, good career progression if you bill well, good database and recruitment tools.

    Cons

Lack of training, career progression, judged purely on billings, all about the money, very 1980's view of Recruitment, kpi focus, not allowed to be innovative, KPI KPI KPI

    Advice to Management

Would be good to not have such a focus on P&L's, instead focus on building up employee's, very sink and swim across the board like other Adecco brands

    Pros

Commission is good if you achieve it

    Cons

Everything else is terrible - Bad management team - do not train, concerntrate on their own commission and dont care about anything else

    Advice to Management

Quit and replace with new people

    Pros

Stable company with a good name in the indusrtry. Good working environments, teams and resources

    Cons

Can be a bit archaic in the operations. Part of a larger group therefor processes can sometimes not be thought out well

    Pros

Loved working here and in some ways, I'll always regret it. Never been rewarded for sales or worked with like-minded people, before or since. Great incentives, I went to Vegas, Monaco and Finland, plus all the big billers lunches in London. Great managers and healthy competition between branches.

    Cons

Some of the more experienced consultants were able to sit on legacy accounts and perhaps not get the most out of them.

I have been working at Computer People full-time

    Pros

Any recruitment job will be challenging, Computer People are very good at supporting you through the harder times as well as celebrating your success. The career development plan is completely transparent, with real opportunities for regular promotions and pay increases, and the commission plan is market-leading, and very rewarding at the top end. Staff turnover is low for the industry and many consultants have worked for Computer People for over 5 years.

    Cons

Basic salaries aren't the best, and IT systems could also be improved.

I have been working at Computer People part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked at CP for 6 years and in that time have been promoted 4 times. The company reward great performance from lunch-clubs to winners trips abroad, and they are achievable. They really don't have a hire and fire policy like some recruitment agencies. Once they invest in you they really support you. It is a really fun culture and environment. No micromanagement which suits me (but I realise may not suit some). The commission scheme is awesome.

    Cons

If you need micromanaging to motivate yourself then this isn't the place for you. The database needs data-cleansing.

    Advice to Management

No need - management actually take on board the ideas of the staff and have hunt groups for people to speak out. They already know my advice :)

  8. "One of the best commission structures but dated systems"

I worked at Computer People full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The salary and commission structures they can offer are some of the best in Bristol (where there is a very high volume of recruitment agencies).
    Great team of people.
Support and training available, if you ask for it

    Cons

The database system they use is very outdated and clunky, a source of many frustrations for everyone.
Working well in to the night or weekends can and does go unrecognised, while a later start in the morning is picked up on regardless.

    Advice to Management

Invest more £££ in rewards for your staff. Before Adecco took over the high-performer trips were a great incentive and other companies still offer those. Miami > golf day in UK.

I worked at Computer People full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good training, good commission structure, good infrastructure and support, not horrifically cut throat, fairly good name in the market. It's a hard job and they get that.

    Cons

Can be limited in attacking new companies as incumbents tend to sit on accounts and matybe not be as active as they should be. No sharing of candidates / splits.

    Advice to Management

You know what you're doing generally, look at candidate / client ownership and getting everything on the CRM - but you know this already.

    Cons

Long hours - you get what you put in as in any sales role
sometimes can be very process driven
