I worked at Compuware (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diverse and Challenging work that will keep you entertained.
The office was nice and located in a great place.

    Cons

Poor managerial attitude that resonates from the top down. In response to a well thought suggestion on a hot topic at the company, the CEO literally told a concerned employee "You should be grateful to have a job, you ungrateful jacka55". I wish that was a joke, but it is a direct quote.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. You have been bleeding talent for a long time, and it's due to your archaic pto policies and poor treatment of employees. Foster more positive communication.

I worked at Compuware (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company, direct access to management

    Cons

Slowly dying market space. Poor management, who thinks they still work at CA, and can push customers around.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip, you don't work for CA any more, and you are not significant.

I have been working at Compuware full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Can learn a lot, reasonable salaries and benefits

    Cons

As a traveling consultant, my manager expected me to be in the office 8:00 am on the day after I returned from assignment, even if my plane arrived at midnight and I got home at 2 am. They would also expect me to be in the office on Friday, even though I spent all day Sunday traveling to a client site, worked 50-60 hours Monday - Thursday and got home Thursday night.
Internal policy requires former employees to submit expenses within 60 days of leaving. I submitted expenses via Fedex about 50 days after I left so that I could include charges that trickle in late. I thought I was leaving on good terms, after many years and attempts to find employment locally that did not require travel. They did not reimburse me, presumably because it took several days for the reimbursement request to flow through the internal processes. I requested a change in 401k contribution near the end of my tenure so that much of my vacation and final pay would go into the 401k. I submitted the change well within the allotted time for changes but it was not processed. I called the payroll department - they said they refused to process the request after I submitted my resignation. Really? They really treat employees like dirt.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like humans. Have policies for traveling employees that are respectful and in line with similar firms.

    Cons

Work environment is not good. Management will look for way to put blame anywhere but themselves use to be good company not anymore. Good riddance

I have been working at Compuware full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid me regular salary while i was on bench.

    Cons

Professional services was a dying unit when i joined. Company was in serious financial crisis in 2007-2008 and they fired tons of individuals on and off the project. While the BOSS spent millions in cash to buy a huge building as office in Detroit.

    Advice to Management

Can't give them any advice. Destined for doom.

    Pros

Bob systematically dismantled the Company and sold off the divisions for his and Joe's own well being.

    Cons

BOB PAUL the fast talking salesperson who tried to be a CEO and failed.

    Advice to Management

Too late, the company is dead... Dynatrac will straggle along for a couple of years while the mainframe business is sold off completely to BMC or CA or whoever and Compuware will just be a footnote to what was.

    Pros

The "doers" at Compuware APM are amazing, have extreme knowledge, talent, and passion.
Its just too bad that management doesn't recognize this.

Modern office (however its a recruiting strategy and a ploy to find more victims that the company can chew up and spit out)

    Cons

If you work at Compuware APM, be prepared for the following:

    - Quick turnover rate of employees (both voluntary and forced resignations)
    - Slimy management strategies
    - To work extra hours on a regular basis just to meet the minimum expectations without any gratitude or recognition
    - For upper management to set unattainable deadlines and goals, unaware as to what really goes into the execution.
-When things go wrong, expect management to point fingers at the ones sweating to get things done.
    - A real "walking on eggshells" environment
    - Weak 401k match (shows how much they care about their employees)
    - No opportunity to advance or break into management. The company only hires managers externally and never promotes within
-Be prepared to not have a voice and to not have your expertise valued
    - Drama. Drama. And more drama.
